Sometimes they are tough, sometimes I get stressed and worn down but everyday I am grateful that we are able to spend our days together. Everyday they grow and learn. Everyday they are a little more independent, a little more capable. Here’s just a few things we have been up to this week.
Jack has become really interested in order and routine lately. He is very keen to make sure he tidies his area after each activity which is a huge relief for me. This has also had a positive effect on his developing fine-motor skills. He wants to do everything for himself, ‘I can do it mummy’ he insists, and so those little fingers have been getting quite the workout lately.
We have a new family member for the next week, Eric. With our warm winter days, Jack has been enjoying playing in the yard with his new friend.
And a week wouldn’t go passed without a play at the park with some ribbon kites.
Everyday Sarah does something to amaze us. She is so capable and so quick to learn. We are not at all used to having such an independent little person at 15 months.
Sarah adores books. Most days after her nap, this is where I find her, sitting in my nursing chair reading to herself.
I’ve moved things around a little in the art area so Sarah can play too. Sarah now has her own little space with a small blackboard, some thick chalk, some block crayons and a notepad. I also found her a tiny paint brush perfect for her little hands.
Sarah is really enjoying using the light panel at the moment. Here she is filling the jars with glass beads. The beads go in, get tipped out and then go in again….over and over and over again.
And I can happily say that our evenings have become much more harmonious since Sarah has been up in the Learning Tower. Something as simple as peeling corn keeps her happy and engaged.
And here’s a little sneak peak of what I have been up to this week.
So a week, just like any other. Filled with lots of play and lots of time out in the warm winter air. Nothing too complicated, just a part of our everyday story.
