Today I wanted to show you a fabulous new children’s activities book. It’s called 150+ Screen-Free Activities for Kids: The Very Best and Easiest Playtime Activities from FunAtHomeWithKids.com!
150+ Screen-free Activities for Kids is all about the lovely gooey stuff that kids love; slimes, doughs and paints as well as fabulous small world ideas and simple DIY toys that the kids will love to make.
You should have seen Jack and Sarah when I first showed them the book! “Let’s do this. No this! NO THIS!” It was hilarious. I’ve never made slime though so I thought we’d try that one first.
This one is called Gak Dough. It’s kind of like goop (ooebleck) but it holds together more and can be moulded slightly whilst still becoming soft again when you let go of it. And since it used ingredients I already had at home, it was a good first slime.
Jack and Sarah weren’t quite sure what to do with the gak dough at first; it was hard, but soft. When you were holding it you could manipulate it like playdough. But once you let go, it turned back to a liquid. Very cool.
They soon got the hang of it though and were rolling and squeezing in no time.
If you’re looking for a fun and creative book which uses materials which are readily available, then you’ll love this book.
The activities are really simple to put together too. So simple that I am planning on letting the kids mix the next batch.
I think they will really enjoy measuring out the materials and watching the doughs and slimes come together.
Grab a copy. It’s honestly a really fabulous book. I know you’ll love it too.
