Homeschool Kindergarten. Reggio inspired learning at home from An Everyday StoryIn 2014 we started homeschool kindergarten

I am excited and a little nervous about starting our first official year of homeschooling. This will be the year that ordinarily Jack would have been in full-time school.

In many ways, I would like ours days to flow much the same as they have during Jack’s preschool year; lots of free time for play, lots of time spent outside, working together on projects; nice and slow.

I will be adding to these pages as our year progresses. I like to refer to the Australian Curriculum (which is designed for schools) as a very general guide and have made a list of basic skills and concepts which I will try and embed into Jack’s learning over the coming year.

You can read about our kindergarten homeschool weekly rhythm and take a peek inside a typical home day.

Writing with HWT blocks - An Everyday StoryThe details for each of these learning areas (literacy, maths, science, history, geography, art and music) will be in the following pages. I’ll be adding links to blog posts as well as links to resources we use and have enjoyed.

I will also be including a project work page which will document Jack’s projects throughout the year.

I am very excited to be starting this year. It feels momentous even.

If you have any resources, whether online or print, toys or materials, which your children have really enjoyed I’d love to hear about them.

  1. This is fabulous! I have a five year old who is currently enrolled in KG1 but we are planning to homeschool him from the new year. Pretty much alongside you I think! Which is why I am so thrilled to have found your blog. We live in Dubai, not very abundant in natural settings but we will make do with whatever we have….which is pretty much sand and camels and rocks. The city itself is all round posh-manicured parks and gardens and ultra clean- it is very difficult to find even fallen leaves or trees because the muncipality works extra hard to clean up everything! We do have the beaches though….I am in anycase going to stay plugged in and follow you, so that I have some sense of direction and a connectedness. Be sure to find me here often. Cheers.
