CKMP-FM
CKMP-FM is an FM radio station serving Calgary, Alberta. Owned by Newcap Radio, it broadcasts a contemporary hit radio format branded as 90.3 Amp. The station first signed on in 2007 as the adult album alternative/modern rock station CFUL-FM, before flipping to CHR as 90.3 Amp Radio in 2009. In August 2014, CKMP adopted a syndicated format known as "QuickHitz", in which the station played shortened edits of songs, around two minutes in length, to double the volume of music played per-hour and maintain viewer interest. After only three weeks, the format was quickly dropped and reverted to a standard top 40 format following legal threats by unspecified artists, alongside public complaints by Canadian musician Jann Arden, who felt that the shortened edits were disrespectful to musicians. In December 2014, CKMP finished 11th on Numeris's Calgary market ratings, trailing behind its CHR rivals CIBK-FM and CHFM-FM.
