David Audretsch
David Bruce Audretsch is an American economist. He was the director of the Entrepreneurship, Growth and Public Policy Group at the Max Planck Institute of Economics Jena in Germany until August 31, 2009. He also holds the Ameritech Chair of Economic Development at the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs, and is director of the Institute for Development Strategies at Indiana University and a research fellow at the CEPR, London as well as an honorary professor at WHU-Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar, Germany. He is co-founder and co-editor of Small Business Economics journal. Audretsch got his B.A. at Drew University in 1976, his M.S. in Economics in 1979, and his doctorate in 1980 from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He was at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung between 1984 and 1997. From 1989 until 1991 he served as Acting Director of the Institute.
