
James Arness
Born on May 26, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, James Arness was a towering figure in American television history. Best known for his leading role as Marshal Matt Dillon in the long-running TV series Gunsmoke, Arness became an icon of the Western genre and a pillar of stability to viewers across the country.
