John Macmillan

John Victor Macmillan OBE DD (1877–1956) was the fifth Bishop of Dover in the modern era who was later translated to Guildford.Born into a publishing family and educated at Eton and Magdalen College, Oxford, he began his ecclesiastical career with a curacy at Farnham and was successively Resident Chaplain to the Archbishop of Canterbury, a Chaplain to the Forces during World War I, Vicar of Kew and then Archdeacon of Maidstone before his elevation to the episcopate.
