MC Daleste

Daniel Pedreira Senna Pellegrine better known by his street name MC Daleste, was a funk ostentação singer, songwriter and rapper. He was fatally shot in the abdomen while performing during a free show in Campinas, São Paulo before a crowd of four thousand people. He died later the same day in Paulinia's City Hospital. Police in Campinas continue to investigate the shooting with approximately one hundred testimonials, videos, and photos received. A number of pictures taken from the stage have been deemed fundamental to the case by an investigator. The Brazilian rap scene has turned violent recently with a number of MCs being killed including Felipe Boladão, MC Careca, MC Primo, and MC Duda Marapé, in addition to Daleste. Rapper MC Neguinho Caxeta miraculously survived after being sprayed by bullets. There are speculations that vigilante gangs, referred to in Brazil as "grupos de extermínio" or "milicia," are affiliated with ex-police officers and are responsible for the murders of Brazilian MCs notorious for anti-cop rhetoric in their songs.
