Offering

An allegorical painting by Igor Kufayev depicting a female figure under a tree in an act of offering. The allusion to the Biblical themes are evident in the presence of a tree, in itself a potent symbol of knowledge and a consequent fall, if not for hand-gestures formed in a ritual act, jnanamudra and chinmudra each symbolizing (the gesture of) knowledge and charity, which gives work a much wider and a more ambiguous interpretation.
