Sanjay Dutt, a prominent figure in the Indian film industry, has carved out an illustrious career spanning more than four decades. Born on July 29, 1959, to Bollywood superstars Sunil Dutt and Nargis, he was destined for stardom from a young age. He made his acting debut in 1981 with the film Rocky, which became a stepping stone to a successful career in Bollywood. Dutt's journey in the film industry is marked by a variety of roles that showcased his versatility as an actor. He gained critical acclaim for his performances in movies like Naam (1986), Sadak (1991), Khalnayak (1993), and Vaastav: The Reality (1999). His portrayal of the lovable goon "Munna Bhai" in Rajkumar Hirani's Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003) and Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006) won him widespread popularity and several awards. Dutt's contributions to the Indian cinema have been recognized with two Filmfare Awards, three Screen Awards, and three IIFA Awards. However, Dutt's life off-screen has been as dramatic as his on-screen persona. In 1993, he was arrested under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) for illegal possession of weapons. After several years of legal battles, he was sentenced to five years in prison in 2013. His life, marked by extreme highs and lows, was captured in the biopic Sanju (2018), further cementing his legacy in Bollywood.
