Sucharit Sarkar
Sucharit Sarkar (born in 1983 in Calcutta, India) is an associate professor at the University of California, Los Angeles.He did his schooling from South Point High School. In the International Mathematical Olympiads in 2001 and 2002, he secured the gold medal and the silver medal respectively. He got the sixth rank in IIT-JEE 2002.But since he was very passionate about mathematics, he decided to do his undergraduation in mathematics from Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore, the best institution to pursue mathematics in India at that time. Sarkar received his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 2009 under the guidance of Zoltán Szabó. Then he did a postdoctoral fellowship at the Mathematical Sciences Research Institute in 2010. In 2018 he was an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in Rio de Janeiro.
