About this list

We know trolls, the Hulk, and Jabba the Hut aren't real. But there's an unwritten deal between spectators and filmmakers: we suspend our disbelief and they make the film's world as realistic as possible. When this deal breaks, CGI fails. Here are the worst movie offenders with bad special effects and CGI faces. Bad CGI can even make villains unrecognizable, like some who became big-time A-listers. In low-budget B horror movies or grind house films, bad CGI is part of the charm. But when we see a Steven Spielberg or Harry Potter film, we expect big-budget effects to excel. Even the MCU has notable bad CGI moments. Blending CGI with live action is extremely difficult. The special effects teams behind Scooby-Doo and Garfield: The Movie could have made the animated characters look like they belonged. And what about Jar-Jar Binks - did anyone understand his poorly-constructed CGI character's appeal? Vote up the worst special effects fails that take you out of the movie.
