The Transformers franchise, one of the most popular toy lines in history, is as complex as the cars, trucks, and planes its robots transform into. Premiering in fall 1984, the original cartoon and comic series captivated an entire generation of children as they watched gigantic sentient robots battle each other. The Transformers have teamed up with FBI agents Mulder and Scully, become honorary Avengers members, and joined forces with Ray, Egon, and the Ghostbusters gang. They've also had notable crossovers, including a comic series under the Marvel moniker, where Spider-Man appeared in issue #3 to save Autobot Gears. Successful toy crossovers include Star Wars Transformers, featuring a transforming Millennium Falcon and TIE fighters that turn into Darth Vader. A Transformers/Back to the Future mashup turned the '80s time machine into a cool and popular toy. While these crossovers may seem like fan service, they often work surprisingly well. After a millennia-long war, it's no surprise the Transformers have crossed paths with interesting characters, from G.I. Joe to Angry Birds. These giant robots know how to get around.

This fuses franchises across many levels.Transformerswith the world ofTerminatorThis works for several reasons. Both timelines start in 1984, connecting the two universes. Both worlds feature powerful machines dominating weaker humans. If Skynet destroyed humanity, Megatron and his Decepticons could cause massive destruction.

This is likely a popular crossover. The Transformers/Avengers team-up happens during the famousInfiltrationThe comic series first showed Megatron and the Decepticons invading and conquering modern Earth. Some see this as just lip service to fans of both franchises. However, the Autobots have long fought superheroes, so it works.

Optimus Prime and his Autobot crew detected a Cybertronian signal from Earth. They found something powerful and evil. They teamed up with the Ghostbusters, who were in modern-day Brooklyn, to save the planet.
The ghost of Starscream appears in the main TFdom plot. Bringing him to the Ghostbusters universe was smart. Released for the series' 35th anniversary, this linked the two franchises without guessing. The new Ectortron robot, a Transformers toy with a fun Ectomobile alt mode, helped bridge the gap.

In this crossover, the Autobots joined the Joes. The Decepticons teamed up with Cobra. Megatron double-crossed Cobra. Cobra then grudgingly joined the Autobots to defeat Megatron and his crew permanently. Across many editions and decades, G.I. Joe/Transformers crossovers have remained a staple in almost every continuation.
This is easily the biggest crossover in theTransformersThe two worlds intersect because both franchises started around the same time. They used many of the same voice actors. The shows even shared soundtracks. Over in the U.K., this happened.G.I. Joerebranded asAction Force, where the two franchises crossed paths in several one-offs.

Marty travels through time for the first time. The Decepticons learn Earthlings mastered time travel. They decide to intervene, causing chaos.
The original Transformers toyline copied late '70s/early '80s vehicles. A supercharged DeLorean becoming a Transformer is not a big stretch. The BttF/Transformers crossover merges both storylines without needing to fix timeline issues. The comic features altered futures and dystopian worlds. All main characters from both series appear, including Biff, who acts exactly as Biff would.

In this five-issue series, the Enterprise crew gets caught in a deadly Decepticon attack. Captain Kirk seeks help from Optimus Prime and the Autobots because their defenses seem weak against the new enemy. Megatron targets James T. Kirk. Optimus must save the day.
Fun, cartoony, and intentionally nostalgic, theStar Trek vs. TransformersThe crossover aimed to attract fans of the old shows. The S.S. Enterprise crew looks like the original cast. The Transformers’ alternate modes resemble their 1980s designs. This seems odd given the time period. But keeping things in canon is not always needed for crossovers.

Optimus Prime and the Autobots captured Megatron and his minions with human help. Then, UFOs appeared overhead, raining plasma beams. Megatron saw a chance and quickly made a shaky deal with the small but strong Martians. Neither side is trustworthy; that might be good since they could cause huge damage together.
Crossovers can be messy and dark, or just funny. This one leans toward funny. It features cartoon art and silly one-liners.This is a cult classic movie. These Martians are powerful, ruthless, and hilarious.

The Lone Gunmen team up with Optimus to find out who abducted the Autobots’ chief medical officer. Uncovering clues leads to more questions than answers. The Gunmen then get help from Fox Mulder, who pushes the case forward.
Definitely one of the weirdercomic book crossovers, theTransformersand theX-FilesBoth franchises built their whole idea around the shadow government. The Transformers hide the truth. Agent Mulder seeks to expose it. This difference works well here.

A surprise Decepticon attack made Optimus Prime lose the AllSpark. This object then appeared on Piggie Island, turning into the 'Eggspark'. The Eggspark gave all pigs and birds robot forms. They used their new powers to start a war. Piggies realized the AllSpark caused the trouble and decided to give the object back to its owner.
This comic came out only to push theAngry Birds TransformersThe mobile game came out around the same time. It is a fun, childish, non-canon miniseries that doesn't take itself too seriously. That alone has value.

A Transformers/My Little Pony crossover seems strange at first. However, both franchises started around the same time and came from the same company, so it makes sense. This series does not feature the first meeting of these characters. In the live-action films, Pony plushies appear in the background of many scenes.
Four issues cover this crossover. Queen Chrysalis accidentally moves the Autobots and Decepticons to Equestria. Both sides team up. They fight each other and fix the world. You find many cool cameos from both groups, like Starscream's ghost. This ghost is now required for any new TF series.
