How many times have you heard a friend say “The book was better” after watching a film adaptation of a favorite novel? The Lord of the Rings hit a home run, but many other attempts have fallen short. Bringing a book to life is no easy feat. Peter Jackson won praise for Lord of the Rings, yet faced criticism for The Hobbit movies. Did we really need three movies for a book that can be read in an afternoon? Watchworthy fans are sharing the books they'd love to see adapted on screen, and hopefully Hollywood is listening.

The Coldest Winter EverBooks PublicationsFrom Facebook CommenterCrystal G:
The Coldest Winter EverSister Souljah wrote this. Will Smith and Jada Pickett Smith bought movie rights for the book over 15 years ago. Jada is too old for the 17-year-old Winter, and so is her daughter. The book is excellent, but nothing occurred.

Skulduggery PleasantBooks PublicationsFrom Facebook CommenterJack F:
Skulduggery Pleasant.
Know what it is, and you know how good it could be. If you don't know, look it up. This book series is very weird; my explanation fails to capture it.
A live-action version would struggle. The low budget and massive CGI demands present a problem. The main character is a walking, talking skeleton.
Animation suits this better. The characters and effects simplify production. Quality jumps up significantly.
