Venkman (Bill Murray) mentions inGhostbustersThe group's proton packs function like an unlicensed nuclear accelerator. Each pack has a particle accelerator that smashes positrons together. This process throws positive-charged anti-particles through the Particle Thrower, directing them at the target. A proton pack throws positive energy to capture a ghost's negative energy.
Each proton pack runs on nuclear power. They have a five thousand-year half-life. The movies never explain how they made them or got the nuclear material. Proton packs are extremely powerful. People rarely mention their danger, except for crossing two Proton streams. Crossing streams supposedly risks exploding every molecule in the user's body, but the Ghostbusters survive it in the first film.

Wookiee Bowcasters. These are unique blaster weapons seen in theStar Wars.franchise, developed by the Wookiees of Kashyyyk. They look like real crossbows but lack a string. Instead, a bowcaster uses a metal quarrel. The weapon surrounds this metal with plasma before using magnetic levitation to blast targets.
Bowcasters are art and weapon; each one is hand-crafted on Kashyyyk using ancient methods. Bowcasters are stronger than regular blasters, but they are heavier, making them impractical for creatures weaker than Wookies.
The power of bowcasters shows inStar Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens.. During the battle at Maz Kanata's castle, Han Solo grabbed Chewbacca's weapon and shot Stormtroopers. He blasted one back with a strong blast, and he was instantly impressed.

Kahless the Unforgettable, a figure like Moses who united Klingon tribes, made the first bat'leth. The myth about Kahless and his weapon gives it the same importance as the Holy Grail or the Ark of the Covenant in Judeo-Christian myth.
Kahless supposedly made the sword by putting a lock of his hair into lava. He cooled the burning hair in the Lake of Lusor and forged it into a blade. Kahless used his sword to kill Molor, conqueror Fek'Ihri, and help start the first Klingon Empire, so every other bat'leth made that way holds great mythic weight.
