In 2017, a decades-long story finally broke: film producer Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexually harassing and assaulting women for years. Actresses he assaulted, including Angelina Jolie and Ashley Judd, bravely spoke up. Weinstein was fired from his own company. The list of accusers continues to grow, as the past catches up with a man notorious for abusing his power. This scandal highlights a larger problem in Hollywood: rampant misogyny and mistreatment. Women and fringe groups are often victimized by those in charge, from sexist auditions to outright sexual abuse. With prominent stars adding their voices, many hope this marks a step forward in the fight for safe workplaces in the entertainment industry and beyond.

"When I arrived I was relieved to find another woman in his room and thought immediately I was safe. He asked us to kiss and she started making advances according to his direction. I quickly got up and asked him if he knew I could sing. I started to sing... I thought it would improve the situation... make it more professional... like an audition... I was so nervous."
After singing, she told him she had to leave. He walked her to the door, stood in front of it, and tried to kiss her lips. She stopped him and managed to get out of the room.
