To make an audience cower in their seats, hint that something nasty will happen to a character's teeth. Whether they're the protagonist, antagonist, or side character, the threat of dental damage makes everyone cringe. Many films here are horror movies, but dramas and even a musical also use this fear. These scenes are hard to watch - now it's up to you to decide which one makes you clench your jaw the tightest.

Babe Levy does not expect to get caught in a diamond-smuggling ring run by a war criminal. His brother, a secret agent, dies trying to stop Christian Szell, "The White Angel," from escaping the US with diamonds. Babe gets pulled into the whole situation, and things turn bad fast.
Thugs working for Szell kidnap Babe and put him in an interrogation chair. Szell uses old dental tools to get information. Szell holds Babe's head, digs in the poor guy's mouth, and speaks in a creepy German accent, the kind every war criminal has.
This scene has no blood. A shot shows a drill getting closer to the camera. Is it safe? No way.

Wallace Bryton (Justin Long) goes to Manitoba to interview an internet celebrity. He ends up at Howard Howe's house, an old seaman who loves walruses. Howe is so taken with a walrus that saved him from a shipwreck, he drugs Bryton, cuts off his legs, and turns him into "Mr. Tusk."
During Howe's grim exposition, Bryton lies on a makeshift operating table. A walrus suit made of human skin covers him; the tusks are from his former leg bones. Seeing Bryton on the table is rough, but the tusks are sickening.

His sister hypnotizes Tom Witzky (Kevin Bacon) and gives him a suggestion to "be more open-minded." Witzky starts seeing strange things at bad times. One vision hits while he is in his bathroom. He sees one of his front teeth is rotten, so he pulls it out like a good horror movie hero would.
The scene is "répugnante," as the French say. Bacon pulls the tooth hard. But it is not just a tooth; blood and spit stick to his mouth. You could reach out and grab it.

Everything in A Serbian FilmA Serbian FilmThis film is a big "No thanks." You do not put it on with friends or enemies. Many people in this movie get mutilated and murdered in ways you cannot unsee. This film has plenty of teeth.
A Serbian FilmMiloš, a semi-retired adult film star, takes another job to secure his family's finances. He does not know he signs on for a real snuff film. A former co-star, Lejla, persuades him to join and puts him on the wrong side of the camera.
Lejla admits her worry about her old friend amidst brutal action. She pays for her pity: a large man in a mask pulls out her teeth and suffocates her in a terrible way. This film shows nothing pretty.

After 15 years trapped in a hotel room, eating egg rolls, and losing his mind, Oh Dae-su travels across South Korea. He seeks out who ruined his life. Oh Dae-su uses hand-to-hand combat to punish anyone blocking his path, though he will use a tool to get what he needs.
Oh Dae-su tracks a delivery driver with the same egg rolls he ate while imprisoned. He finds the private prison in Seoul. Oh Dae-su confronts the warden. To learn who locked him up, Oh Dae-su rips out the warden's teeth with a hammer's claw. This action feels cathartic, but it will hurt your fillings.

Possession involves more than vomiting pea soup and crab-walking. Some kids actually enjoy the 'evil spirit inside them' concept. After buying a dybbuk box, teenage Emily acts out at home and school. She beats a student, talks to an invisible woman, and makes a guy's teeth fall out with her mind.
As Emily gains demonic power, she acts malevolently toward everyone, especially her mother's boyfriend. Before leaving for a trip with Emily's mother, he takes a demon blow. His teeth crumble out while he claws his face in his front yard.
This scene is a major moment, but you should not watch it repeatedly, especially if you eat a lot of taffy.

Dawn visits an OBGYN to check what is happening downstairs. Initially, everything seems fine. The doctor acts strange, but it is nothing unusual. That changes when he greases his ungloved hand and shoves it inside her.
During his assault, the teeth clamp down on him. He is dragged around the room like a raccoon with his hand trapped in a snare. He frees himself, but he loses some fingers. Even without seeing the teeth, it is clear they are dangerous.

Novocaine.Novocaine is a cool neo-noir from the early 2000s. It follows dentist Frank, who gets involved with a femme fatale addicted to painkillers. After many turns, Frank learns the only way out is to die... or for the federal government to believe he is dead.
Frank pulls out all his teeth, sticks them into his dead brother's skull, and torches his office, leaving only the teeth. Watching Frank pull each tooth out and place it in a mold is bad. Seeing the mad dentist smile with only gums is nightmare fuel.

Nothing beats a doctor with an agenda, especially one who runs a secret medical facility under a Swiss castle, conducting cruel experiments on people.A Cure for Wellness is listed in Horrifying Teeth Scenes.A young finance executive investigates a wellness center in the Swiss Alps run by Dr. Heinreich Volmer.
Volmer hides his brutal experiments from everyone. He drives Lockhart crazy with gruesome tests instead of simply throwing him off a cliff. One test, likely sleepless, uses a drill, a tooth, and no anesthesia.
Volmer clamps Lockhart's mouth open and drills into his front central incisor until blood sprays. Lockhart survives, but he never goes to the dentist again.

The Dentist is listed in Horrifying Teeth Scenes.Avoid this film if you dread getting your teeth cleaned. The movie tracks an evil dentist named Alan who loses his mind after discovering his wife cheats with their pool boy. Alan's oral violence escalates until he attacks a woman named Beth.
Alan holds her in his chair, clamps her mouth, and yanks out her teeth with pliers. After breaking one tooth, the drill comes out. Alan then jabs that tooth into the broken one and digs around in her mouth.
Despite the Casio keyboard playing this movie (Alan Howarth, genre king), the teeth scenes are intense. You need plenty of novocaine to watch this film.
