25 True-Size Map Comparisons

World maps vary in shape and size. Navigational and road maps guide you from place to place, while topographical and physical maps reveal terrain. Thematic maps track various information, but can be distorted. Mercator maps, for example, flatten the globe into a 2D projection, altering continent, country, and body of water sizes. This results in a skewed world view. The True Size Of website provides accurate comparisons. With a few keystrokes, clicks, and swipes, we made surprising true-size map comparisons. Browse and vote up the size comparisons that shock you.
