The Marvel Cinematic Universe is straying from its comic book roots as it grows. Film character arcs are altered by contracts, actor commitments, and real-life factors that don't affect comic book characters. This creates a different picture of who's alive and dead in the Marvel comics versus the MCU. Some major MCU characters have been dead in the comics for a while, while big-screen casualties are still alive in the comics. The comics also offer bizarre resurrections that are unlikely to hit the big screen, except perhaps in Guardians-style films.
