The 2020 MLB season's spring training sparked heated discussions about the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal. Top players like Mike Trout, Aaron Judge, and Clayton Kershaw expressed lost respect for Astros players due to their apologies. Pitchers Alex Wood, Trevor Bauer, and Mike Clevinger considered throwing at Astros hitters in retaliation for the tainted 2017 World Series title. Braves outfielder Nick Markakis suggested Astros players deserve a beating, while Red Sox designated hitter J.D. Martinez felt player reactions were getting out of hand. Check out this list of MLB player reactions to the Astros cheating scandal for more.

Baseball feels sad. It is tough. They cheated. I disagree with the punishments; players got nothing. This was player-driven. It sucks because careers suffered; many people lost jobs. It was hard. Stepping up to the plate knowing what was coming felt fun.

I do not think the Astros' 2017 title matters. You cheated; you did not earn it. Winning requires playing right and fighting until the end. Competition means laying everything out. The better player, the better person, wins. Knowing another team had an advantage is something you cannot guard against. I do not feel that is earned.

"It's anger. I feel like every single guy over there needs a beating. It's wrong. They're messing with people's careers. ... There's right ways to do it and wrong ways to do it. I 100 percent disagree with the way they did it. There's a lot of people that were hurt by it, and it was wrong."

Honestly, I do not know what to think. Some guys seemed sorry. Some gave the right words, offered a good apology. That is fine. We move on. Then the owner says foolish things. How can you ignore the situation?

Players will handle this correctly across the league. A few at-bats will not be comfortable for many of those guys. They should not be comfortable.

In the Olympics, cheating players cannot win a gold medal. But they still have a World Series title.

Someone will take action. They will suspend more games than those guys got for the biggest cheating scandal in 100 years. This will be ironic because that is how it will play out.

I think this happened in 2018 and 2019. If they had not been caught, they would still be doing it. They apologize only because they were caught. Everyone in the league is upset; it is a disgrace to the game.

Many people are disappointed. That is why the commissioner investigated. Hopefully, they take the right actions. I feel they put baseball in a bad spot. Many people suffered because of what they did and what resulted.

If you cheated in 2017 and won, you do it next year, and the year after. I use an example. If I play video games with you, I see your controller, I know what happens, and I win. If you say we play again, I win the same way. The Astros did this in '17, they did it in '18, and they do it in '19. It is simple.

You killed many young careers during the season. Pitchers came up, got crushed, and were sent down. Then you just say, 'I'm sorry.' People lack jobs now because of that. This makes it worse than steroids. Back then, everyone used steroids, so it was fair. It was fair. I apologize. I think it's worse than gambling.

The commissioner has not won anything. Perhaps he has not. Every player in this room works out all offseason. They show up early for camp. They put in all the time and effort for that trophy. This trophy is called the commissioner's trophy. For him to devalue it like yesterday tells me he is out of touch with the players. Only the word 'commissioner' on it devalues the trophy.

I get player frustrations. But I think it is too much now. We must move past this. We cannot keep talking about it. I know it is frustrating now. People want to talk about this and that, but it is 2020.

I will not let them forget they are hypocrites. They cheated and stole from many others and the game itself. I might get in trouble for saying this. But this is how I feel. I must speak up because I fear the backlash. We are all angry. If no one speaks up, nothing happens.

I would lean toward yes on throwing at Astros hitters. At the right time and place. Maybe I give up two runs before the inning and get angry. Who knows? But it would certainly be on my mind.

Those guys cheated for three years. People do not realize Jose Altuve stole an MVP from Aaron Judge in 2017. Everyone knows they stole the ring from us. But it is over.

I do not think this will be ignored. Players were disappointed they did not get punished. Rob Manfred is the boss. He makes those decisions. It will be a bit rough the first couple of times the Astros play. I do not know how I will handle it.
