Replace the light bulb with an egg if you have a light or lamp you almost never use.

Hide the egg behind the refrigerator, washing machine, or dryer.

Tape the egg to the top of the oven. She must crane her neck to see it.

Place the egg in the bottom of the dishwasher, if your machine has a sprayer at the bottom.

Most people use gravity and look low for eggs. Tape the egg to the ceiling, in plain sight, and people will miss it.

Hide them in vases, behind doors, and pillows—mostly places that look obvious but nobody thinks to check.

My mother once painted one egg green on top and brown on the bottom. She hid it in a flower pot. After I couldn't find it, she searched for hours. It was fantastic.

Stick the egg in your pocket. Wait for people to ask why they cannot find it. Then pull out the egg and show them.

I often visit the dollar store for cheap items. We keep things simple. Easter is good for outdoor toys. Use sidewalk chalk, bubbles, a jump rope (for older kids), small toys like cars or bunny figurines for the diaper bag. Get play dough, new crayons, a coloring book, and a new toothbrush. My kids are older now, so they get candy, but also fruit we don't buy often, like kiwi.

Last year, we filled my toddler's eggs with trail mix and stickers; he loved it! I usually put a DVD or craft in his basket that we wanted for a while. We filled my 7-month-old's eggs with puffs last year. He did not care, though.

I was in a hotel with my mother and her boyfriend during Easter. I woke up covered in melted chocolate. They thought putting the eggs in my bed was smart.

My mom started a tradition when we were kids. We lived in a warm state, and Easter meant the start of pool season, so we always got new bathing suits and sandals. Even though we live in a colder state now, I still do it because they will need them soon.

Then fill them with bubbles, chalk, crayons, new hats or hair ties, sunglasses, some candy, and snacks like fruit snacks and goldfish.
