About this list

Big comic book events often rewrite their universes' continuity. Most events have a follow-up that rewrites the original, especially in DC's part of the industry. Every event since Crisis on Infinite Earths seems to be an attempt to rewrite it. Marvel avoids official retcons, but characters' powers can alter storylines. For example, God Emperor Doom creates a new universe or Mephisto alters Spider-Man's life. These reality-shaking events still happen, just in a trickier way.
