In the age of complex comic book storylines, one-shot stories offer a refreshing change. These standalone tales, usually confined to a single issue, exist outside the main canon. While some may inform the series' mythology, they're primarily designed to tell a singular story. We're fans of the one-shot concept and have compiled a list of our favorite one-shot comics, ranging from big titles to independent, heartfelt stories. Our list takes a broad view of what constitutes a one-shot, much like the comic industry itself. We've included everything from long-form Batman comics to single issues of self-published books, such as an Eisner Award winner. We've aimed to cover various genres, moving beyond standard superhero fare, although Archie was a difficult exception - with so many great issues, it's hard to choose just one. Vote for your favorite one-shot comics and suggest any we might have missed in the comments. We're always looking for new reads.
