History is filled with conquerors like Alexander the Great, born to lead, and Napoleon Bonaparte, who rose to power through talent and force. Most people can't fathom the mindset of someone who thinks about subjugating a new country after breakfast. But it's clear many conquerors had inflated self-opinions. Having thousands of loyal soldiers at your command can be intoxicating. The most memorable quotes from these historical figures often combine self-regard with a raw, naive quality. Conquerors typically speak straight, acting on their desires in ways most people can only dream of. Here's a collection of quotes from famous conquerors who reshaped the map.
