Texas is home to some of the most brutal and notorious serial killers in the country. Like any other, a Texas serial killer is driven by a twisted desire to harm. The Lone Star State has seen its fair share of serial murderers, with some cases being particularly shocking and terrible. This list explores the darker side of Texas, covering serial killers from the state, as well as those who committed crimes there but weren't native Texans. Some of these criminals were caught, incarcerated, and executed, while others, like the Servant Girl Annihilator and the Phantom Killer, remain unidentified.

Elgin had links to all the victims. A club foot matched a footprint at a scene. Elgin was shot dead in February 1886 while trying to stab a woman.

He got a 70-year sentence in 1974, then parole after 10 years. He barely left prison for 18 months before starting his decade-long murder spree.
