About this list

Japan churns out more anime every year, making it easy for great titles to slip under the radar. Dubbing has come a long way since its reputation for poor acting and censorship, as seen in the American Sailor Moon. Although anime is more popular than ever, not all titles get dubbed for non-Japanese markets. Some, like The Big O, even gain more popularity overseas than in their home country. This list is for fans looking for great dub anime. While Cowboy Bebop, Death Note, and Dragon Ball Z are hugely popular, this list highlights underrated dubbed shows and films. Series like A Letter To Momo, Kino No Tabi: The Beautiful World, Wolf's Rain, Whisper of the Heart, and Outlaw Star have great English dubs that deserve recognition. Vote for your favorite underrated anime with excellent English voice acting.

    The Big O

The Big OThis mixes film noir, mecha, and detective stories with sci-fi elements toward the climax. Set in Paradigm City, Roger Smith, a professional 'negotiator' and pilot of the massive mech 'Big O,' and his butler and android maid follow the story. Big O is an antique. As Roger explores the city's dark underbelly, he finds the city's hidden past.

Why It's Underrated: Heavy Western influences soured the taste of its Japanese audience in the 1999 release, but it worked better with Western fans. The dubs had solid voice acting at the time. Its confusing finale left many people unhappy, including those at Cartoon Network - but Big O deserves more recognition than just being a cult classic.
