The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a Hollywood juggernaut, with over 20 films and several billion dollars in box office revenue. Despite its machine-like precision in delivering laugh-out-loud dialogue and memorable moments, some of the series' most standout bits were never scripted. Various film commentaries, interviews, books, and special features have revealed a surprising number of unscripted Marvel moments. Actors and directors created some of these improvised scenes on the day of filming, while others were added on a whim during filming. Here are the funniest, silliest, and most charming improvised lines in Marvel movies.

If you change something for no reason, that is one thing. But if you change something to boost the character's spirit? That is a change we will make. Tony Stark not reading a card and not sticking to the set story? Him just blurting out “I am Iron Man?” That fits the character.

While escaping Sakaar, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) discussed escaping guards. Thor suggested a move called "get help," which Loki rejected. Thor then carried Loki and shouted, "Get help!" before throwing his brother at a guard.

"We literally just came up with it on the day," the actor told attendees of the 2018 ACE Comic Con.Tom Hiddleston told 2018 ACE Comic Con attendees.Hiddleston added this sequence is more than funny. It shows a touching look at the characters' relationship.
Thor and Loki used this trick as a game as kids, stopping long ago, but it worked then and might work now. They had one last ace up their sleeve. Loki hated it, saying, "I don’t want to do it. It’s humiliating." Thor pushed him, "You’re going to love it! Come on!" in a big brother way. Then it worked. That moment shows a deeper bond between them as brothers. I think those moments are special.

This is a strong argument (given Spider-Man's big role inSpider-Man: Far From Home, Avengers: Infinity War),and apparently unscripted too. With so many MCU films and franchises, forgetting relationship states and conflicts between movies is easy. For example, when Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) discuss Thanos inAvengers: Endgame, it is their first face-to-face interaction since they violently ended things inCaptain America: Civil War—an event that happened years before in the MCU timeline. Tony gets angry when he confronts Steve, not only for losing half the universe but also for failing to work together.
According toEndgameco-director Anthony Russo, Tony Stark calling Steve a "liar" was an extra line RDJ threw in. AsRusso toldEmpire:
I think that was one of Downey's best performance moments in the movie. He shows his feeling of being forsaken by his father—you see his trust issues and intimacy in that moment when he turns on Cap. Downey played the scene with a lot of energy. He did it many times because he spent so much energy on it. He understood it well.

In the final film, the story involves a snake. There was also a version where Thor loved Turkish rugs. About 23 minutes into the podcast, Waititi explains:
We created about six different versions of that story. We stood around while the cameras rolled, feeding lines and ideas to Chris. I said, "Do another one, in this one say: 'I was walking through a field, and I saw a lovey Turkish rug in the middle of the grass, and I love Turkish rugs, so I went to stand on it, and it was Loki, and he turned back into Loki and there was a hole and I fell through the hole and was impaled on a whole lot of spikes.'" We made versions of that, and the one with the snake became the one we used.
