Sony Studios controls the Spider-Man universe and plans to keep it separate from Marvel, making a team-up with the Avengers unlikely. However, Sony aims to build a vast universe with its characters. To do this, they need more than just Spider-Man. After the first two Amazing Spider-Man films failed to deliver, Sony's plan has changed repeatedly. A solo Venom film was once considered, but the idea was shelved. Still, Venom's popularity could support a standalone film. The character was poorly handled in Spider-Man 3, where he was a throwaway villain with no backstory. Fans want Venom done right. The question is, which Venom should they use? Hopefully, it's the 616 version of Brock, a bodybuilder seeking revenge against Spider-Man for ruining his journalism career. Alternatively, they might use the Ultimate universe version, where Eddie is an anti-Peter Parker. We've cast actors for both versions: the brutish Brock and the vengeful Ultimate universe Eddie. Topher Grace played Venom in Spider-Man 3, but these actors would bring new depth to the role. Who would you choose?
