    The Promised Neverland Season 2

The first season ofThe Promised NeverlandThe Promised Neverland was outrageously popular. Fans liked the tight pacing, mystery, suspense, great characters, and intriguing premise.

Season 2 threw all that away. CloverWorks removed manga arcs, characters, and concepts. This made a streamlined story that confused anime-only viewers missing context.

The last two episodes were terrible. Emma solved most problems with luck or shonen tropes, ignoring the strategy from the previous season. A montage waved away years of story, showing this was the series' end. Fans are disappointed!

    Berserk (2016)

In 2016,BerserkFans saw the anime continue after the 90s. Despite a solid story, the anime disappointed. CGI works when done well, but looks absurd when done badly.Berserk's'Done poorly' is too gentle a phrase for this case.

Some bad scenes got cleaned up for the Blu-Ray. But by then, it was too late.

Studio Deen was the only studio available. Studio Deen has some good titles, but their track record is weak. They were so busy they outsourced most animation to March Jack.

The results were grim. Fights like Meliodas vs Escanor felt stiff and emotionless, even ugly. Season 3 was a major letdown.

    Tokyo Ghoul √A

Anime adaptations rarely change the manga plot unless there is a very strong reason.

That is why many people dislikedTokyo Ghoul √ATokyo Ghoul √A felt frustrating. The first season stayed true to the manga. Season 2 went the opposite way, putting Ken Kaneki with Aogiri Tree, a terrorist group seeking Ghoul Liberation violently.

This idea isn't boring, but it is far from a faithful adaptation. Most fans expect and want faithful adaptations.

    Black Butler II

Fans questioned if Sebastian would eat Ciel's soul while Black Butler aired. In Season 2, another demon, Claude, suddenly took Ciel's soul. Seeing Ciel escape this grim fate or watching Sebastian act like a demon butler did not satisfy the story.

Alois Trancy, the other human, is annoying, even after you learn his sad past. His dynamic with Claude seems like a strange repeat of Ciel and Sebastian. The plot stalls. The anime ignores the manga. However, sequel OVAs exist, such asBook of Circuswhich are actually good.

    Sword Art Online Season 2

Do not confuse this with the sequel seriesSword Art Online IIThe second season of Sword Art OnlineSword Art Onlinewas a bad follow-up to the first one.

Season 2 shows many negative ideas about the isekai genre, making it hard to track them all.

Asuna, who was a hero like Kirito in Season 1, spends most of Season 2 with her body in a coma and her mind trapped in a gold cage. While she waits for her man to save her, the world's worst villain slobbers all over her. Seeing a strong female character treated like this hurts.A strong female characterThey treat her like that.

There is also an unnecessary side plot about Kirito's sister falling for him. Also, the way Kirito beats the villain lacks logic. Or the mystery of why SAO exists remains vague and hard to grasp. Much happens here, and none of it works.

    Eureka Seven: AO

Eureka SevenThe story follows Renton, a human boy who falls for Eureka, a Humanoid Coralian. Eureka's job is to watch humanity and find ways for the two species to live together peacefully. Renton and Eureka connect deeply despite their differences. Unable to be together in their world, they leave for an unknown place together at the end of the first season.

The second season harms this good story by making the Scub Coral, the non-humanoid Coralian species, evil. This seems like an attempt to justify the war against the Coralians, destroying the message that love can beat differences.

    Dragon Ball GT

Some parts ofDragon Ball GTare pretty good. Finding out what happens when Dragon Balls are used too much is interesting. Seeing Vegeta get wrapped around his teenage daughter's finger is funny.

But overall, the series felt pointless. Anime stories can work if they serve a purpose beyond filling time until the manga catches up. That was not the case forGT.

Dragon Ball GT failed to copy the first two series' magic. It introduced bizarre, unappealing storylines, such as Goku becoming a small child.

    Kemono Friends II

Kemono FriendsKemono Friends was a smash hit anime that few expected to succeed initially. Fans credit director Tatsuki. He used a defunct game as a launchpad for a warm feel and real character growth.

Tatsuki abruptlygot fired from Kadokawa. Ryuichi Kimura led the second season. Some guess Kadokawa expected failure and only gave Tatsuki creative control until success forced them to maximize profit.Kadokawa published this. Ryuichi Kimura led the second season. Some people guess Tatsuki got creative control only because Kadokawa thought the show would fail. They wanted maximum profit when it succeeded.

This failed. Kimura could not build the vibe that held the original fans. Season 2 felt like a tired rehash of old concepts without the first season's special elements.Season 2 felt like a tired rehash of old concepts without the first season's special elements.Season 2 felt like a tired rehash of old concepts without the first season's special elements.

Last Exile: Fam, The Silver Wing

Last ExileLast Exile was a 2003 anime. It followed two teenage sky couriers who get pulled into a tough political issue while trying to save a young girl. Many watch it, and it gets good ratings. Its 2011 sequel did not get as much praise. Original characters were well-developed; new ones were shallow. The first plot worked well, but the second plot lacked clarity and wandered.

    Psycho Pass 2

Psycho-PassPsycho-Pass is an amazing anime, if you ignore Season 2. The first season sets up a dystopian world, handles conflict, and builds clear character arcs. Season 2 misses the mark.

Both villains aimed to destroy the Sybil System. Their identical goals are already a problem, but Kirito Kamui is not as compelling as Shougo Makishima. His existence breaks rules set in the first season. Shimotsuki is just Ginoza missing a strong backstory. The writers seem unsure about protagonist Akane Tsunemori, resulting in a messy season.

Season 3 seems better, though many Season 1 fans will miss it because of Season 2's low quality.

Darker than Black: Gemini of the Meteor

Darker Than BlackDarker Than Black is an underrated classic. Its sequel failed to gain much fan approval. Season Two shows little interest in previous characters. Instead, it features a new cast who lack development or interest. Hei, Season One's lead, is the biggest issue. Hei is one of the coolest characters in anime.Hei is one of the coolest characters in anime.Season Two shows him living a sad shadow of his former life. Now, he is an alcoholic who mistreats his kids. Showing a fall from grace is okay, but the execution needed skill. This did not succeed.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2

T occurs. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya It debuted in 2006. You could not stay ten seconds in an anime space without seeing someone perform the Hare Hare Yukai dance. That anime was wildly popular then. Today, some anime fans never heard of it. Time passed, and the sequel played a part.

The sequel featured the notorious.Endless Eight -These eight episodes shared nearly identical plots, dialogue, and animation, with only minor changes. Some liked the story's experimental style. Most found the repetition too irritating to matter. These eight episodes took over half the season; blaming them is hard.

    Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon

Yashahime: Princess Half-Demonmay be a sequel toInuyasha,Inuyasha and other characters barely appear. The focus shifts to their children: Sesshoumar's twin daughters and Inuyasha and Kagome's child. While these new characters have appeal, many fans feel let down because they miss the characters fromInuyashabarely seem to appear at all.

Another source of annoyance stems from the controversial origin of Sesshomaru's children. Their mother is Rin, the young girl Sesshoumaru once treated like a daughter. Most viewers dislike seeing a parent-child bond become romantic, even without a biological link.

This morally questionable plot was understandable but upsetting in the 90s. However, it is hard to ignore this in a series released in 2020.
