Albert Fish, a notorious 20th-century American serial killer, went by many names: The Boogeyman, The Gray Man, The Werewolf of Wysteria, The Brooklyn Vampire, and The Moon Maniac. He claimed 400 victims, but was convicted and sentenced to death for murdering 10-year-old Gracie Budd. In 1928, Fish abducted and strangled the girl, then wrote a letter to her parents detailing how he consumed her remains over the next week and a half. Fish was a sadomasochist and pedophile, according to mental health professionals, who had hospitalized him in 1930. He had a history of self-harm and developed a propensity for torture and cannibalism. With a criminal record dating back to 1903, Fish terrorized American parents and children from 1924 to 1932. As a traveling house painter, he committed crimes outside of New York City, targeting young boys and girls, and mentally disabled teens. A father of six, Fish was executed by electric chair in 1936 at age 65. His perverse crimes cemented his place as one of America's most infamous killers.
