Eleven years and 22 movies after the first Iron Man, Avengers: Endgame arrived as a sprawling, epic conclusion to the MCU's Infinity Saga. This poignant and thrilling film moved fans to tears and cheers on opening weekend, despite its many plot holes. At its core, Endgame is a time travel movie - a concept that's impossible in reality and inherently complex. Even with a three-hour runtime, Avengers: Endgame inconsistencies abound. While you were marveling at the action sequences, you might have missed some gaps in logic. We'll cover them, but be warned: spoilers ahead. We're committed to revealing these plot holes, no matter what it takes.

Steve Rogers and Tony Stark travel back to get the Space Stone; it is still the Tesseract. They reduce it to the stone so it fits the Infinity Gauntlet for Hulk.
Rogers must return the Stones to the exact moment they were taken. That should be simple. However, the Space Stone remains just a stone. How does he turn it into a Tesseract? This changes timelines greatly if the Tesseract magically becomes a pure Space Stone.

Tony Stark needs to bring everyone who vanished into this five-years-later reality. This keeps his daughter safe and everything okay. But actually, things will become terrible.
Bringing these people back five years later creates huge problems across the planet and galaxy. How will governments recovering from the Snap handle this massive influx? Will people instantly reclaim all property and money? Will the world track who returns? How do we reintroduce everyone back? What about people in airplanes when they were snapped? Did they appear at 30,000 feet without parachutes? Ecologically, water cleans up, and whales enter the Hudson in 2023, but what happens when wildlife doubles instantly?
The whole situation becomes a mess. A lightning strike from Thor or Hulk in glasses will not fix it easily.

Tony Stark sees time travel requires a 'GPS.' Bruce Banner moved through time using Scott Lang instead of himself. This caused him to become a baby and an old man, not return to 1950. Tony builds a device to guide them through the Quantum Realm to their destination.
Thanos captures future-Nebula in 2014. He learns about the Avengers' time travel. Thanos sends past-Nebula back using future-Nebula's time device. Past-Nebula spends five minutes on the console—technology no one used—and finds a way to pull a spaceship the size of a small country and thousands of alien soldiers through a small portal from 2014 to 2023.
How did she manage that? How did she improve the technology so fast she pushed that much firepower without Pym Particles or time watches? Thanos's tech team must be geniuses.

Captain America traveling to the 1940s for quality time failed to help with world problems again.
Captain America did nothing from the 1940s to 2023, apparently just puttering around during crises like Vietnam, 9/11, and every bad thing since WWII. S.H.I.E.L.D. (which is actually HYDRA) would know if he acted. Still, they think the real Captain America is frozen or lost to time.
Steve Rogers hangs up the shield and 'gets a life' while the world goes to hell.

When Ant-Man returns from five years in the Quantum Realm, he finds the van with the Quantum Tunnel inside. The van moved to a storage facility in San Francisco during that time.
Who moved a van with a massive machine looking like a nuclear device? It sits in a fenced area marked 'Lang.' Cassie vouched for it, or the police knew it belonged to Ant-Man. Someone checked the back, saw the machine, and tried to take parts. Should they have told the Avengers? You don't just drop a huge, glowing, unknown machine in storage and hope.

Bruce Banner asks the Ancient One to give up the Time Stone. She warns that losing it means Earth, and maybe all existence, is ruined. She states taking it creates a new reality where 'our world will be overrun, millions would suffer.' Bruce assures her they will return the Stone, stopping an alternate reality.
That is fine, but by the end ofEndgame, Thanos (probably) stillwipes out all the Infinity Stones– including the Time Stone. This means, according to the Ancient One, the future fails without the Time Stone. The nine years it took to remove the Stone from reality does not mean darkness stops.

According toEndgame's dialogue,Hot Tub Time Machineexists in the MCU. Sebastian Stan plays Bucky.who plays BuckyBarnes, is an actor in the MCU. ButHot Tub Time MachineThe movie came out years before Bucky was deprogrammed in the MCU timeline. This means he was in that movie while still under HYDRA's control. Did HYDRA-affiliated spies make the movie? Was it part of a brainwashing operation run by Arnim Zola?

IfThe Big Lebowskiexists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (Tony Stark calls Thor "Lebowski"), then Jeff Bridges exists in the MCU. Jeff Bridges played the villain Obadiah Stane in the firstIron Man.
So, is "Jeff Bridges" just a stage name for a brilliant, evil industrialist working with Tony?

After losing the Space Stone in 2012, Steve Rogers and Tony Stark travel back in time. They aim for a time with more Pym Particles (to jump again) and a less guarded Space Stone. They jump to 1970.
Why go that far back? Pym Particles exist from 1970 until Thanos's snap in 2018. Pym survives that time; he surely keeps particles stored. Time is not an issue since they plan to jump back to 2023 when the teams leave. Jumping back a few hours in 2012 to grab the briefcase before Loki gets it, then heading to San Francisco to ask Hank Pym for help, seems easiest.

We learn inAvengers: Infinity Waracquiring the Soul Stone demands sacrificing "that which you love," meaning "a soul for a soul." For Thanos, this means sacrificing Gamora, likely the person he loves most. Later, speaking to young Gamora, he says he sacrificed "everything."
Jump ahead toEndgame, Black Widow and Hawkeye must get the Soul Stone. They hear again about a required sacrifice. However, sacrificing either one feels like too big a loss to the other. They are best friends, but Black Widow cares for many, including a clear bond with Bruce Banner. Hawkeye has a family he assumes ranks above Black Widow in his heart—but without them, perhaps Natasha is number one.
Saying Hawkeye "sacrifices" Black Widow stretches credibility. She tricks him and sacrifices herself; this does not match how the Stone works. It feels less strong if someone dies rather than being forced to choose someone else. Red Skull explains inInfinity Warthat "to ensure that whoever possesses it understands its power, the stone demands a sacrifice." Black Widow should have gotten the Soul Stone because she was willing to sacrifice herself.
