    Overheating The Pan

    Facebook commenter.Susan Mai:

I did not. Other mistakes include overcooked meat or too browned toast. Early in my relationship, my fiancé planned to fry a hot dog. He set the frying pan on high heat and left it on for several hot minutes. I walked into the kitchen as he moved to put the hot dog in the pan. The pan made a loud sound and the hot dog flew out, hitting the fridge faster than a rocket. I grabbed it off the floor before the dogs got it, because I did not want them to burn, and it was still cold. It seared on one side but remained cold enough that I broke it in half and gave each dog a share. I cook 99% of my meals now. We still laugh about that; it was almost a decade ago. Good times!

    Facebook commenter.Stephanie Phillips:

I might do this for my kids as a science experiment.

    Overheating The Chocolate

    Facebook commenter.Helen Muhly Roberts:

Covering balloons with melted chocolate made bowls. The chocolate got too hot; it popped, sending chocolate flying everywhere! I still found spots five years later.

    Getting Too Excited With Knives

    Facebook commenter.Wilma Sliwiak:

I bought several new, expensive German knives. I was excited to use them! I did not notice until I finished slicing dinner. I cut my fingertips; they bled well! That was my lesson: I never cut myself again.

    Forgetting To Check The Product

    Facebook commenter.Heather Michaels Freeman:

I made corn casserole for Thanksgiving. I used two boxes of Jiffy Banana Bread instead of two boxes of Jiffy Corn Bread.

    Facebook commenter.Wilma Sliwiak:

That was a true mistake. For some, that should have been their favorite side dish!

    Overcooking The Turkey

A Facebook commenter wrote this.Carmen Yon.:

I roasted a Thanksgiving turkey too long, making it dry. Since it was the main dish for a party, I gave up. My husband carved the turkey and put it in a Pyrex dish. I heated three cups of turkey broth, poured it over the meat, and hoped someone else brought gravy. At dinner, taking the lid off the dish, I saw the meat had soaked up the broth and was perfect. Disaster avoided!
