About this list

History is filled with bizarre tales of failed assassins and individual plots that are as crazy as some of the weirdest WWII plans or as unlikely as World War II secret missions. Bizarre assassination attempts continue to happen, regardless of the target's security or popularity. The lack of success in these historical assassination fails is often due to luck or circumstance, showing that crazy attempts are just as dangerous. If things had gone slightly differently, these attempted assassinations might have succeeded.

Powell stabbed Augustus and ran away.On the stairwayA State Department messenger walked in the open front door and confronted Powell. Powell stabbed the messenger, then ran into the street.
