Passengers on Eastern Airlines Flight 7 from Newark to Miami thought they'd stumbled into a Candid Camera stunt. In reality, armed individuals had hijacked the plane, diverting it to Cuba. The February 1969 hijacking was all too real, but with Allen Funt, former host of Candid Camera (1960-1967), on board, passengers initially believed it was a prank. When armed men took control, demanding a course change to Cuba, the ensuing laughter may have actually helped save the day.
