Creepy Things That Happened To 'The Conjuring' Cast And Crew

Farmiga found three claw marks on her thigh the day after shooting ended for Conjuring 2 (2016).

McKenna Grace: "Madison and I walked down a corridor for a scene. We heard three knocks on a door while the camera rolled, so we kept going. We tried it a third time and heard the knock again. I asked Madison if she heard it; we both thought it was weird. In the first 'Conjuring,' three knocks mean the holy trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We opened the door, and Annabelle sat in a rocking chair. We thought the actors were joking. On the next take, we heard the knock again, opened the door, and Annabelle was gone."

Annabelle appeared mysteriously in Annabelle Comes Home (2019).

Grace McKenna: "I wore a rainbow rosary with a crucifix, and it broke suddenly. I wore it all day; nothing happened. It just broke—that was the strangest thing."

'I took photos of everyone with my camera. Every time I photographed Annabelle, the pictures came out black. I took photos of her with two different cameras, and both times, they were black. Other photos were fine. I thought the camera reflected the case, but I photographed her outside the case. I also took a picture of Vera and me. Patrick wears a big cross in the movie, and when I took that picture, the cross in the photo was whited out with black stuff around it.'

Strange things happened with holy symbols in Annabelle Comes Home (2019).

Director James Wan: "Vera has said she wakes up between 3 and 4 AM from the start of filming this movie. She says she wakes up every night during that time. At first, I thought, 'She just moved from L.A., and the time difference...' But even now, she says she still struggles to sleep then. I thought, 'No way.' Because the movie shows a specific time when the witch character died in that window."

Vera Farmiga woke up between 3-4 AM every morning during The Demonic Hour, around when the Witch in The Conjuring (2013) passed.

'I woke up one morning with a small cut near my hairline on my forehead. It was shaped like a triangle.'

McKenna Grace woke up with a triangle cut on her head while filming Annabelle Comes Home (2019).

"When we first worked together, the lights went out. We all panicked, asking, 'Annabelle, are you there?' The lights came back on, and my nose bled heavily. It happens sometimes due to allergies, but this was bad—it stopped as soon as I left set for a tissue."

During Annabelle Comes Home (2019), the lights went out and McKenna Grace got a heavy nose bleed.

"For me, the strangest thing about the first one involved a creative talk with James Wan. I was researching Lorraine. I did not know her, so before our call, I closed my computer. We had our talk. Then we said goodbye, and I opened the screen. There were three digital claw marks, running from the upper right diagonal to the lower left."

"My wife cleans it with three big beach towels. It does not smell. She rinses it in the sink. She thought it was the dog. But the dog is in its bed. Another mark appeared in the exact same spot. This is weird. It happened two more times in that spot. I called Lorraine. I told her, 'Tune in. Something is happening.' First, she asks, 'Do you have teenagers in your house?' 'Three teenage boys, yes.' 'Is there stress?' 'Yes, the youngest is fifteen and going through rough times.' She said, 'A water poltergeist feeds on an adolescent's energy. That is when it appears. Does it happen after a fight?' I asked my wife, and she said, 'Yes, he was upset the other night. Some things happened with friends.'"

The screenwriter's wife claimed she was haunted by a water poltergeist after consulting Lorraine Warren during Conjuring (2013).

"At the end of the sound stage, huge curtain drapes started moving by themselves. They just kept swaying. No doors opened. The air-conditioning was off. They moved on their own."

Producer Ron Cowan: "There was a wooden pig in the room. They had masks, small religious items, and things like that. But there was a pig everyone said moved around. It would be there, then they would return, and it would move to a different spot."
