The DC Cinematic Universe, launched in 2013 with Man of Steel, features superheroes like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman in blockbuster films with deep backstories and complex mythologies. Despite their huge success, these movies aren't immune to scrutiny. Fans of films like Wonder Woman 1984 and Justice League have spotted several plot holes and inconsistencies across the DCEU. Some issues are straightforward, such as Wonder Woman's unlikely ignorance of marriage despite reading Socrates. Others analyze the chronological timeline, like the discrepancy in Aquaman's age based on his naming after Hurricane Arthur. Certain problems look at the broader picture, questioning Superman's need for Batman in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. If you're a DC movie fan with a keen eye for on-screen logical flaws, explore this list of DCEU plot holes found by fans.

From Redditor /u/Ottomanmeth:
[Wonder Woman] Diana can recite Socrates in Ancient Greek, but she doesn't know what marriage is?
This makes no sense. Socrates talked about marriage a lot.

From Redditor /u/Dainn99:
I just rewatched AquamanAquaman and Black Manta forget they wear high-tech scuba gear. Shooting a grenade launcher into the submarine side is not smart. Black Manta's dad forces him out because the water rises, but he could have run and grabbed his dad and a helmet. They could have moved the torpedo once the water rose high enough because they are designed to be only slightly negatively buoyant.
Submarine pirates should know scuba gear and torpedoes. They guess they know more about Atlantean tech.

From Redditor /u/kromagnon:
Why did they bring Lois back to Zod's ship with Superman?
The movie suggests they got some info about Clark from her mind. She says, "Sorry, I didn't mean to tell them but, they read my mind." Clark replies, "It's OK, they did the same thing to me."
If you could read Superman's mind, why would they bother picking up Lois and locking her in a room with access to their computer?
Zod already plans to kill all humans and make a new Krypton. Why do they lock Lois up? Why not just kill her?

From Redditor /u/946789987649:
Superman senses people worldwide, finding Lois far away and saving her in time. Why did he need Batman to save his mother? Could he not find her, save her, and catch Lex before time ran out?

From Redditor /u/HeartOfAhriman:
Was just watching Wonder WomanHippolyta explains Themyscira's origin to Diana. She tells Diana she wanted a daughter so much she sculpted her from clay and begged Zeus for life. She also states Zeus created Themyscira with his last breath. How did he give life to Diana? He was dead before she existed.

From Redditor /u/tacos_y_burritos:
How did Aquaman leave the Sahara desert?
They jump from a plane and slide down a long chute. How did they reach the surface and then civilization? There was no landing pad, vehicle, or water nearby.
102 - 7

From Redditor /u/kim_jong_un4:
How did Jor El win the hand-to-hand fight against Zod in the first Krypton scene? Zod was trained as a soldier; Jor El was trained as a scientist. Zod should have easily beaten Jor El. Yet, the scientist, who trained his whole life to be one, beat the soldier who trained his whole life to be one. What is going on?

From "Dawn Of Justice" Gets TV Journalism Wrong in the list 'DCEU Plot Holes Fans Noticed'Redditor /u/Buzz_Killington_III:
I usually don't focus on things in superhero movies. The whole genre relies on people pretending these characters can exist.
That said, this is the worst violation I have ever seen. I am watching the Ultimate Edition, the extended version. I like the extra footage so far, but....
... After the explosion at the Senate hearing, right after Batman's 'Hunters' speech, a TV shows Nancy Grace saying, "...We gotta wait for more evidence but the question still remains, where is he?" Nancy Grace never says that. This woman never has an accuser who might be innocent. She ruins lives easily. She directly caused the suicide of at least one innocent woman. I cannot believe in a universe where Nancy Grace makes a reasonable argument. This is too much for Zack Snyder.

From "Rick Flag Carries Too Many Letters From Deadshot's Daughter" in the list 'DCEU Plot Holes Fans Noticed'Redditor /u/Lousy_minor_setback:
Why did Rick Flag carry letters from Deadshot's daughter on the mission day?
"For the toughest fight of my life, I need guns, ammo, knives, body armor, radio, first aid stuff, MREs, two cans of Red Bull, the head-exploding console... AND a bunch of letters from Deadshot's daughter. This is just in case the head-exploding threat loses power and I have to deal with Deadshot's emotions. Not just one letter; I need a whole bunch. These letters matter more than anything else I could carry."

From "Aquaman Gives Away Bruce Wayne's Secret Identity" in the list 'DCEU Plot Holes Fans Noticed'Redditor /u/TakingAction12:
Justice League: Aquaman shows Bruce Wayne is Batman to an entire town.
He says, “Dressing up like a bat... Bruce Wayne” before the town after their first clash. Does that town lack cell phones? Did no one speak any English when Aquaman spoke perfectly?
The secret is out. Batman is Bruce Wayne. The world knows.

From "Ludendorff's Motives Are Confusing" in the list 'DCEU Plot Holes Fans Noticed'Redditor /u/Fox_Tango:
The gas gave Ludendorff superpowers. Ludendorff got angry at Diana for criticizing Ares in Greek mythology. This was a confusing, misleading bait-and-switch of Ares' identity.
Dr. Poison also vanishes at the end with no clue about her fate.
If Ludendorff wasn't Ares, why did they not mass-produce the super gas and give it to German soldiers?
Ludendorff gassed German leaders to stop the Armistice Ares wanted signed, knowing peace would not last. This suggests Ludendorff was off-script, assuming Ares guided his goals.
The movie was amazing. It probably ranks among the best DC movies to date. This is one of the best DC movies. This is the best DC movie to date.
If this were a DC/Marvel crossover, the gas would provide a good transition to WW2.WW2.Superhuman experiments developed the Super Soldier serum.

From aRedditor:
I list all my questions and corrections from the movie's start to finish.
Harley's middle name is Frances. Her brothers told me they did not include it in her origin introduction.
During the introduction, showing Harleen's past lovers before she became Harley, a woman resembling Poison Ivy appears. If that is the case, it shouldn't happen that way. Harleen met Ivy after becoming Harley.
Would the GCPD want Harley after she broke out of Belle Reeves? There is already a wanted poster for Captain Boomerang.
How did Cassandra break her arm? It would be nice if she had an origin story like Huntress.

FromRedditor /u/YrNotYrKhakis:
I just watchedShazam!I watched Shazam! for the first time today. I was very confused about something at the end. It is not the worm. I looked that up already. The big articles on "ending explained" do not answer my question.
The post-credits scene shows Thaddeus in a prison cell, locked up after losing to Shazam. He frantically writes magic symbols on the walls and door. I do not feel the movie fully explains how he opened a portal.open a portalHe wrote the symbols seven times on a door, and it worked. My question is why he could not open another portal in his cell to escape. Also, wouldn't someone with that knowledge be nearly impossible to contain in a cell? Maybe the Phantom Zone?

He is Kryptonian. This means he should not have trouble with the Kryptonian atmosphere once adjusted. This also means he loses all his powers and becomes "human" in terms of strength.
(EDIT: The Sun helps nothing if he breathes Kryptonian air/atmosphere, since we see Superman powerless on the Kryptonian ship. He could not escape being cuffed to a table; a needle punctured his skin after he fell, blacked out, and bled. After Jor-El made the ship more "Earth-like," Superman regained his powers... without any sun exposure, meaning no "solar recharge" we always see when Superman is weakened.)
He grew up on Earth. His first few months were hard. He adjusted to the powers Earth gave him as a baby. Martha monitored his breathing because of this. Eventually, he becomes Superman.

FromRedditor /u/FDAhealthandSERVICES:
Aquaman was born on the east coast. His real name is Arthur Curry. His parents heard a radio warning about Hurricane Arthur approaching the east coast. This hurricane did hit the east coast in 2014. Arthur's birth sits between late 2014 and early 2015. I checked the alleged year.Justice LeagueThe event happened between 2016 and 2017. This is my answer.
