About this list

Deadpool packs more Easter eggs and references than any other comic book movie. Comic fans love when filmmakers stay true to the source material, but they love Easter eggs even more. After over a decade in the making, the Deadpool film nails the tone, feel, and irreverence of the comic. It constantly jokes about pop culture and itself. With a staggering number of sly winks and self-aware references, there's something for everyone. From meta fourth wall breaks to X-Men Origins: Wolverine references, Green Lantern jokes, and pokes at Hugh Jackman - the center of the X-Men cinematic universe - Deadpool has it all. These are the coolest Deadpool Easter eggs. Vote for your favorites, then see the movie again and try to spot them all!

Colossus tells Deadpool he is taking him to the Professor. Deadpool replies, "McAvoy or Stewart?" This nods to Deadpool knowing he is in a comic movie, and also knowing about the X-Men movies and their messy continuity.X-MenThe movies have messy continuity.

In the comics, Deadpool came from the Weapon X program.Weapon X programThe Weapon X program laced Wolverine's bones with adamantium. Some continuities used Wolverine's DNA to create Deadpool. Hugh Jackman casts a large shadow here. He mentioned near the film's start as the man Deadpool had to "convince" to make the movie. Later, Wade Wilson wears a cutout of Jackman's face to hide his scarred appearance.

All of Those Lips Are Sealed/Sewing Jokes

Remember how mad everyone got when they sewed the Merc with the Mouth's mouth shut inX-Men Origins: Wolverine? So do the writers ofDeadpool and so does Ryan Reynolds. They make jabs at it in the film. When Ajax threatens to sew Wade's mouth shut, he quips, "I wouldn't do that if I were you," coming this close to winking at the audience.this closeto actually winking at the audience.

Ripping A Scene Straight From The Comics

Remember the scene with Wade Wilson as a hitman with the pizza boy? If you like the comics, that scene might sound familiar. The film copied that scene word for word from the funny pages! The film captured every detail, even the pizza toppings.

What is a comic film without a post-credits scene? This movie is a surprising take on the post-credits scene from the John Hughes classicFerris Bueller's Day Off. It references the audience (like Bueller) and post-credits scenes in comic book movies. It also announces that Cable will be in the sequel.

Green Lantern Cannot Escape Reynolds's Wrath

A great Green Lantern riff plays when Wade goes through the Weapon X program. He tells them not to make the super suit green... "or animated!" This points right at Ryan Reynolds's last superhero move. Also, the opening titles show a bad guy taking a cheesy shot of Reynolds as Lantern in his wallet.

    That's Definitely A Helicarrier

Your eyes were not tricked. The fight scene in the third act, where heroes fight Ajax, happens on and around a Helicarrier, as seen in Marvel'sAvengers.andCaptain America: The Winter Soldier.. Legally, it is not the same as the S.H.I.E.L.D. design in the Marvel Studios movies. The official line calls it a garden-variety aircraft carrier, but look closely during the action; you spot design elements making it an airborne vehicle.

    That 'Blade 2' Joke

Ryan Reynolds practically played Deadpool (by way of playing Hannibal King) in Blade: TrinityBlade: Trinity. Rumor has it that's actually where someone handed him his first 'Pool comic. As an homage to that, and the bad guys choice of wardrobe, Weasel tells Ajax and Angel to get to their "midnight screening on Blade 2Blade 2A meta joke, a callback, and a slight dig, all at once, even if it misses a direct reference.BladeReynolds was actually in the sequel.
