About this list

Wolverine and Deadpool are two of Marvel Comics' most popular and unique characters, despite their similarities. They share a healing factor, a superpower that originated with Logan and was later grafted onto Wade Wilson. However, key differences exist in how this ability works for each of them, raising the question of whether Wolverine or Deadpool heals faster. Both the Merc with the Mouth and the Best There is at What he Does have limitations to their healing, but they're among the most indestructible superheroes. Each has died on a handful of occasions, yet always managed to return to the land of the living, surviving grisly injuries along the way.

Deadpool Has Been Literally Cursed With Eternal Life By Thanos

For decades, Wade Wilson’s published history showed he could not actually die. Marvel Comics has a running joke: Death, the skeleton lady who embodies mortality, has a major crush on Deadpool. This crush drives Thanos the Mad Titan to charge.

After the Merc with the Mouth faced the afterlife nearDeadpool #64Deadpool spent time with Death, then woke up alive. Deadpool was cursed with eternal life by Thanos. Thanos did this to keep Deadpool away from his crush.

In current continuity, this curse's status is uncertain. However, Wade Wilson did die at the start ofSecret Wars - with everyone else in the Marvel Universe.

Magneto Once Ripped The Adamantium From Wolverine’s Bones

Wolverine and Magneto have a nonsensical rivalry in comic books. One has a skeleton laced with ferrous metal; the other is the Master of Magnetism. Logan keeps fighting Magneto repeatedly without thinking about the bad outcome.

Logan learned a hard lesson inX-Men #25. During theFatal AttractionsDuring the crossover, Magneto lost patience. He lashed out at Wolverine brutally, ripping the adamantium from his bones and pulling it out through his pores. Professor Xavier wiped Magneto’s mind, but this helped Logan little. It took years for Logan to regain his metal skeleton and his mind, which was broken. At least, he learned he was born with bone claws!

Deadpool Will Live Until 2099 At Least

Deadpool’s healing factor comes from experiments with Wolverine’s DNA. Thus, both share a similar dislike of aging. Wade Wilson is not as old as Wolverine, but he might live long—Logan simply had a century head start.

Deadpool, for instance, appeared alive in the future-flung timeline ofMarvel 2099.Deadpool existed there, though in a fairly old and decrepit form.Deadpool existed there, though in a fairly old and decrepit form.X-Force met a future Deadpool locked in solitary confinement for decades. Wolverine Was Regenerated From A Single Drop Of Blood

An infamous incident fromUncanny X-Men Annual #11Wolverine regenerated his whole body from a single blood drop in

The scene before showed Logan's few on-page deaths. The Thanos-like villain Horde ripped Logan's heart from his chest. Wolverine survived that injury before, but not this time. Horde then let a drop of Logan’s blood fall onto the magic crystal they fought over, andthatbrought him back to life. This issue poorly shows Wolverine's healing factor because it portrays it as weak.

    Wolverine Got Ripped In Half

Technically, Wolverine's ripping in half happened in an alternate universe shown inUltimate Wolverine vs. HulkEven the Hulk should not have torn Logan's adamantium bones apart by mainstream rules. However, Wolverine crawled miles to find his legs and reattached them, proving his toughness.

Wolverine has not been torn in two yet. The character was blown apart before metal grafted to his bones, and he always put himself back together, suggesting he could survive the Hulk treating his body like string.

Deadpool Fed His Own Flesh To A Teammate In Need

Deadpool seems like a lone gunman, but he proves a solid teammate many times, especially during the disgusting events ofUncanny X-Force #4. That issue showed Deadpool’s pall Archangel attacked by the calorie-suckingHorseman of Famineand drove him to starvation with no emergency food.

Wade Wilson carved pieces of himself and fed them to Warren Worthington III, a character used to rare steaks. Archangel asked Deadpool where the mystery meat came from, but Wade kept the source secret then, and maybe forever.

Wolverine Has Been Burnt Down To The Metal Skeleton

Some think Wolverine needs flesh to regenerate, but that is false. During the events ofCivil War, Logan hunted down Nitro. Nitro’s power to explode and reform started the conflict, but Nitro unleashed a nuclear blast on Logan.

The blast stripped Wolverine’s flesh from his metal bones, leaving a metal skeleton. His skin, muscle, organs, and brain were all destroyed. Yet, he regenerated his body and mind hours later, likely from marrow in his indestructible limbs. This surprised both readers and Nitro, whom Logan later caught and took violent revenge on.

Wolverine Has Been Eaten Alive, And Even Eaten Himself

Anyone with a healing factor can theoretically regrow flesh without limit. Wolverine's case tested this in gruesome ways inWolverine #165, Logan was locked in a prison cell with a super-powered cannibal who enjoyed eating him repeatedly.

In the future-set tale ofOld Man Logan, Wolverine survived being eaten whole by the Hulk, bursting out of the stomach hours later in a big way. Logan has also been shown eating his own flesh to survive on other occasions; this makes little sense but looks cool.

Deadpool Got Ripped In Half Vertically

Ripping Deadpool in half vertically is old news. This case study mattered when Deadpool found the villainous Madcap inside his mind.Deadpool Annual #1He asked his pals Thor and Luke Cage to split him exactly in half. They happily agreed to the request.

The plan worked perfectly against all odds. Each half regenerated into a new body: one for Deadpool and one for Madcap. The foes could battle on the physical plane again. We still don't know what happens if this procedure occurs without someone in Wade Wilson’s head. The world needs only one Deadpool.

A Bunch Of Deadpool’s Severed Body Parts Once Conjoined Into An Evil Deadpool

Wolverine’s healing factor lets him survive wild injuries. It does not create life. Wade Wilson’s factor did that inDeadpool #44

Against all odds, the limbs and organs joined into a being known asEvil Deadpool - and this entity later plagued Regular Deadpool for years.

Deadpool Was Disemboweled By An Elephant

Healing factors matter. Still, it is hard to picture anyone surviving the total loss of internal organs unless that person is Wade Wilson. InDeadpool #2, the hero got severely wounded when he found himself on the wrong end of an elephant’s tusk.

Deadpool slid off the tusk without missing a beat. He stuffed his guts back in and punched zombie presidents, ignoring the elephant disembowelment.
