About this list

Detroit's Devil's Night has plagued the city for decades with countless fires and chaos. During the 1980s and 1990s, the three days leading up to Halloween were marked by nearly constant blazes. In response, the city introduced Angels' Night on October 30 in the 1990s to curb property destruction and crime. Although Devil's Night has waned over the past two decades, it still sparks up every year. At its peak, Detroit saw 500 to 800 fires annually, but by 2016, this number had dropped to 59, a positive change for the city, yet a reminder that some still seek destruction.
