About this list

Entelodonts, also known as 'Hell Pigs,' 'Killer Pigs,' or 'Terminator Pigs,' were gigantic omnivores with massive heads and powerful jaws. They roamed North America, Asia, and Europe for 21 million years, crushing bones and running through forests and floodplains. As part of the Cenozoic Era's giant prehistoric animals, entelodonts walked alongside others until their extinction over 16 million years ago. Despite their fearsome reputation, Hell Pigs were not particularly vicious and were not actually pigs, but rather closely related to ungulates like hippos and whales. They were opportunistic eaters who happened to be extremely large and powerful, with piglike features.
