Funny tip jars help businesses squeeze every last cent from underpaid employees and overcharged customers. When creativity stalls, unique jars give workers an outlet and customers a reason to smile - and tip. Online, pictures of these jars abound, with Instagram hashtags like #tipjar, #tipjars, #tipping, and #baristas. Many restaurants and coffee shops use a clever tactic: turning tipping into a contest. Jars might be labeled 'Batman' and 'Superman' or pose a question like 'Wolverine vs The Hulk?' Customers vote with their dollars, creating a public consensus, and hardworking employees earn more.
