    From Reddit u/uwu_SenpaiSatan:

This is my story from when I was a kid. I had an imaginary friend named Derek; he was an exact copy of me. We played with Derek for years, longer than regular kids do. Still, he always looked at my mom and older sister sadly.

He left. Twenty-three years later, I dug through my mom's safe for paperwork. I found a stillborn death certificate for a boy named Derek who shared my birthday.

Only then did I learn I was a twin. My twin, Derek, died during birth. Creepy, right?

    From Reddit u/JayJubJub:

Around age five, I played with toy cars and built tracks in my grandmother's basement. I talked to a girl named Stephanie, my imaginary friend. She had long brown hair and brown eyes. She always wore white and never left the basement, as far as I recall. She was nice to me and wanted to play with the cars.

One day, my family asked me to come upstairs. They asked who I talked to. I gave them her name and description. Everyone in the house went silent. They looked like they had seen a ghost. They told me my uncle played with an imaginary girl with that name and description when he was my age. I did not get it then and told them she was not imaginary. It still feels weird today.

    From Reddit u/LibriBot:

My son, about two or three years old, told us about his imaginary friend, Johnny. Johnny wore all green, including a green hat. One time, we drove past the cemetery. My son pointed out the window and yelled, “That’s where Johnny lives.”

He was very young and did not know what a cemetery was. We explained to him thatNo one livesthere. It is a place for people who died. Then he told us, “Johnny was a soldier who died in a place called Nam.”

    From Reddit u/professor_dog:

Purple mommy. When my son started talking, he told us about something called "purple mommy." It could be an imaginary friend, but these details are strange. Purple mommy is all purple with long hair and bright, all-white eyes. (At that time, he confused purple with black, so he meant she was all black.)

Purple mommy picks him up at night and turns off the lights. We often found my son out of his crib in the morning. This meant he was crawling over the railing to the ground while barely walking. We found the lights off in his room several times, even though he fears the dark. Purple mommy needs a bandage because she has blood everywhere. Purple mommy has no smile, meaning no mouth. Purple mommy can take her head off. Purple mommy really dislikes Daddy.

He told us this for about a year or more. If we asked where she was, he always pointed to the same spot: a corner behind his open closet door. He woke up crying almost every night during this time. During a rough night, my wife asked what was wrong, and he answered, "Purple mommy won't let me sleep."

    Reddit u/eegreck:

I talked to a boy named Kevin when I was a child. He visited my window every night, and we played in my bedroom. Sometimes, he stayed in my house instead of going back out the window. I described him thoroughly to my parents before I grew up and stopped seeing him.

My brother and his family moved into our childhood home a few years ago. In the first month or so of living in my old bedroom, my three-year-old niece described Kevin to my brother exactly.

We never told her, or any other kids, about Kevin.

Before that, when I lived in that house, my older niece asked us about the little boy in the hall. She was the only child there. The hall is about three feet between my old bedroom, my brother's old bedroom, and the bathroom. There are three doorways. She looked right into my room.

    Reddit u/illogicalfuturity:

I have a younger relative who talked about her imaginary friend, Ms. Mim.

Ms. Mim looks down on everyone. She does not act arrogant; she floats high on the ceiling.

Ms. Mim always wears her favorite white dress and holds a large, clear towel (a wedding dress and veil).

    Ms. Mim's neck always bends.

    Ms. Mim cries often.

    Ms. Mim dislikes our grandma.

When we told Grandma about this, she said she had a friend who hanged herself in her wedding dress after her groom left her at the altar.

    Reddit u/doesitfeelbad:

When I was little, I firmly believed I had an imaginary friend named "Other."

Other shared my name, so I just called him Other.

I told my mom Other was being mean to me and wanted to steal Dad's bike.

I told my father Other was angry at him for hurting me (he was abusive). He literally threw me across the room.

As an adult, I asked my mom. She told me my father had a brother named after me who was never told about because he died in a motorcycle accident before I was born.

    Reddit u/Jake_Kiger:

When my daughter was very young, she had an imaginary friend named DeeDee. If she woke up in the middle of the night, she would strip her bed and build a pile of blankets and pillows in our room, waking up in "her nest." When she was five, we moved to our new house, built in the late 1800s by cattle rancher Jesse Driskell.

In the new house, she built piles in her room, but she woke up on her stripped bed. When asked, she claimed the nest was for her friend Rose. We asked if Rose knew DeeDee, and she said, "No, Rose is real." She told us about Rose waking her up and wanting rest, so she built a nest for her on the floor before returning to bed.

Years later, a sweet old neighbor, a grandniece of the Driskell family, told us Jesse had a first wife who died from sepsis poisoning. Her name was Rose.

    Reddit user.helena_lang_:

My sister had an imaginary friend when she was little named Aster. She named Aster; she never knew Aster's real name because Aster never told her. Aster was a little girl with long, blonde hair and blue eyes. She wore a blue dress with lace on the top and never wore shoes. Aster was pale and always tired. She often said her stomach hurt; Aster has lines coming from her eyes, and Aster's eyes are blurry.

Aster seemed like a normal imaginary friend to me, even if strange. Kids make weird things, right? Then I read about a little girl who died of typhoid long ago. A photo showed the family, including the little blonde-haired, blue-eyed girl. I looked it up. Lethargy and stomach aches are symptoms of typhoid. This gave me a mini heart attack.

My sister was older by then and stopped mentioning Aster. I never showed her the photo or asked for more details about Aster. I do not want to know. If my sister was friends with a ghost, that is her problem; that is cliché horror movie stuff, and she can keep me out of it.

    Reddit user.FeatureImpressive:

My son had an imaginary friend named "Bored" (or Board; I don't know). I can only imagine my son asking his name and the friend saying, "I'm bored." He met him when we moved to an old house. The friend was unsettling. He had "mean cats" and lived in the wall. Sometimes he wanted Bored, other times he told us he was mad at Bored for being mean and not letting him sleep.

Sometimes Bored locked his room door, keeping people out. This stuff was creepy. Mostly, he liked playing outside with him. Except when Bored tried to make him play on the road. Later, we walked past the cemetery by our house, and he walked in. He pointed to a circle of trees—five or about eight feet tall—and said, "That's where Bored is from."

I looked between these trees and saw a gravestone. It was covered by trees and vines, yet just barely visible. We moved soon after. Boredom did not follow.

    From Reddit u/sciencenerd86

When my daughter was a toddler, she started talking about a man named Don. She described him the same way every time and showed no fear, even bringing him up daily. She never went to daycare, and we knew no one named Don.

Then, one day, she got terrified. She would not walk alone in the house for fear of seeing Don. She refused to sleep in her room and spoke about hating him because he used "mean words" on her constantly. After about a year of "mean Don," we bought a new house. After moving, she never mentioned him again.

    From Reddit u/AdorableDread:

When my brother was little, he had an imaginary friend named Starry. He and Starry did everything together; my mom had to bring an extra plate of food for him at meals. The old rundown flat my brother, my mom, and my dad lived in was undergoing renovations.

For several months, my dad's tools kept vanishing. He instantly blamed my brother, whom my brother strongly denied. One day, my dad broke open a sealed loft hatch. On a loft beam, in a straight line, were my dad's missing tools. When my brother mentioned it, he told my parents that Starry took them and apologized.

    From Reddit u/SqueegeeBoi:

When I was six, I had an imaginary friend named "Noel." He was a blonde boy with a blue shirt and a haircut like Dylan and Cole Sprouse (this was before the show). I had this friend for a time, then I stopped.

Five years later, my sister sat by the swing set, sad because I was being mean to her and she "wished she had a friend." Suddenly, a blonde boy in a blue shirt appeared on a tree and said hi. She ran and sat on a swing, freaked out. Next, her swing was pushed, and she did not move. It kept getting higher and higher until she jumped off and screamed loudly. I heard it and ran over; she was by my neighbor's deck, crying. I never told anyone what my imaginary friend looked like, so when she described it, I just thought, what the heck?

    From Reddit u/Sunset_Paradise:

I asked my son who lived in our house, and he always said, "Mommy, Daddy, Puppy, Baby (him), and Boo!"

He tried to play with Boo but got frustrated when the toys he gave Boo fell to the floor.

One night in the bath, he said Boo was there. I asked where. He pointed to the ceiling. I stood up to ask and was shocked by a freezing cold air. I took him to the doctor just to be safe, but they found nothing wrong.

This happened for a year or two, starting when my son was about 13 months old. What is creepy is that the way he called "Boo" sounded like his cousin who died at 15 months old. He did not know about this then.

When he was three, we moved. We have not heard about "Boo," or any other person we cannot see, since.

    Reddit u/Dadofpsycho:

My son met his invisible friends, "the guys," when he was three to four. There were three of them. We often found my son talking quietly to them; he would not tell us what he talked about.

He began acting out, and this seemed tied to "the guys." We told someone at our church. They organized a group of Christian ladies to visit our house and pray. We told them little, just that there was an imaginary friend. The ladies quickly found out things we withheld and told us there were three imaginary friends, which we never shared.

They prayed over our house and told "the guys" to leave and not return. Our kids were not in the room during this. After that, my son stopped talking to "the guys." But maybe a week later, he told us "the guys" wanted to come back and play, offering cookies if he let them.

It was pretty strange. I still do not know what I believe. I think "the guys" were possibly evil and existed somehow.

My nephew has an imaginary friend named Dody. Dody is a girl who cannot walk and must crawl to reach places. She does not play with him, but she watches him play with his toys and sometimes follows him at night.

He talks about Dody often. I am terrified of stepping into my sister's house.

    Reddit u/babizzo:

My cousin had an imaginary friend. She said it used to live in the fireplace and was "red and patchy," like it was burned.

She was apparently a little girl who wore funny clothes that "looked like olden-day clothes." That still scares me!
