Job hunting online can be tedious and tricky, as things aren't always what they seem. Some offers might even be a full-blown grift. If you spot these red flags, it's best to skip the offer. Which of these warnings do you find most helpful?
About this list

This describes 'Won't Disclose Company Name' in the list '15 Job Posting Red Flags'.MCxDRIFTY:
If a company does not list its actual name, you will apply. You want me to give you lots of personal work history, but you won't even give the company name?
Nope...
55 - 2
From Redditor u/viridiano:
"A fast-paced environment" means your job involves constant firefighting.
"Dynamic environment" means leadership constantly changes priorities.
"Must be a team player" means you cannot question authority.
"Able to work with minimal supervision" means you will take the blame when things go wrong.
"An Agile team" means daily stand-ups.
"Rockstar developer" means you work very long hours with impossible deadlines.
54 - 3
From Redditor u/autoposting_system:
Do not charge any fee or make any charge. The only cost is driving your own car to the interview.
If they ask for money to start the process, that is a [grift].

From Redditor u/scottiebass:
"Rock & Roll Environment" means bullshit management-training pyramid scheme.
"competitive salary" means you are competing just to get into the "poor house".
You have to pay money to take one of their classes.
45 - 5
From Redditor u/Gobularity:
An enormous list of desired skills exists across many areas, topped off with a minimum wage salary.
44 - 6
From a Redditor:
This is just for me personally, but "work hard, play hard." Another one I found was, "We run a lean organization." That means you are cheap and overwork your staff.
43 - 7
From a former Redditor:
"Unlimited income potential. 100% commission where 99.9% of employees do not earn enough to cover their expenses, usually with no support or leads. If there is any training, it is for unethical sales practices. You become an independent contractor so the employer avoids trouble for the lies you tell to make a sale, but they cut you off the second something starts to come back on them."
41 - 8
From Redditor u/shinzonfu:
Boring is best.
Watch for places that list how fun it is to work there and the list of fun perks.
Translation: you will work long hours.
Boring places usually do not want you after 4:00.
Boring is best.

From Redditor u/intersecting_lines:
Sh*t like this. Experience Required:
Five years experience with Vue.js.
One hundred fifteen years experience with React.
Ten years experience with Java. Candidates must have prior professional experience with JavaScript.
Bruh, Vue.js launched only four years ago. Java and JavaScript are not the same things (I've seen this many times). NEXT.

From Redditor u/PeligrosaPistola:
An incredibly LONG job description (You WILL be overworked).
A super short job description (The hiring manager does not understand the position).
A position posted multiple times quickly (Toxic culture).
A POSITION WRITTEN IN ALL CAPS (Shady. Avoid!).
Multiple positions posted by the same company (If they hire in bulk, they fire in bulk. Expect layoffs).
The words "rockstar," "ninja," or "guru" in the job description signal a red flag for bro culture or an office trying too hard to attract millennials.
This job description sounds like a Tinder profile or focuses on cultural fit. They ignore diversity and have bad work/social lines.
If they call the team a family, expect favoritism, nepotism, and Ism. This is a dysfunction alert.
The job title and requirements clash. For example, someone seeks an entry-level admin with ten years of experience and an MBA just to file papers and get coffee.
Any personality test mention shows they do not know how to hire people.
Snark like, "can you keep up?" suggests a narcissist runs the business. They expect you to prove you are worthy of their team.
"Other duties as assigned" means you will do things you dislike or have nothing to do with your job. Do not complain.
"Team player" means you will do most of the work while your colleagues slack off, like a college group project.
"Fast-paced environment" means things are disorganized.
"Wear many hats" means the company is understaffed.
"Dynamic" signals high turnover.
"Self-starter" means there is no training provided.
"Hit the ground running" means you will be overworked.
"Exciting opportunity" means you will get paid very little to take over a job someone else quit.
The apply button sends you to a talent management platform, which is a resume black hole.
38 - 11
From a former Redditor:
"Ninja"
"Hit the ground running"
Random capitalized words and/or exclamation marks.
Internships demanding X years of experience.
36 - 12
From Redditor u/xZeroRage:
"Must be flexible in performing many tasks" means you will do much unwanted work outside your actual job.
"Great opportunities for students" means low pay, likely not great, and probably not flexible. Students are cheap labor.
The word "passion" means you will not feel passionate about this job later.
The listing itself is obscure or confusing. You must hunt to see what you actually do; the business is likely dysfunctional.
33 - 13
From Redditor u/ersal:
"Other duties as required" means do exactly what you are told, ignoring the job description.
33 - 14
From Redditor u/honeybadgeroo:
"We're a family" or any family mention excuses bad behavior and takes advantage of you. This is a workplace, not a family (unless it is a real family business; still be cautious).
33 - 15
From Redditor u/robbzilla:
Someone seeking combo jobs.
Example: Wanted! Server Administrator / Network Administrator.
People seeking this are cheapskates with bad infrastructure and will be horrible to work for.
