Fans Share Obscure 'Lord of the Rings' Lore About Legolas

From Redditoru/Toaster-Retribution:

Most elves probably cannot shoot down a Nazgul in darkness. Legolas does this in the books. This fact was cut in the movies. I think he surpasses most elves of his time in the books. He is not equal to Galadriel, Celeborn, or Glorfindel.

From Redditoru/italia06823834:

Sam eventually travels West too.

Gimli travels because of his unusual friendship with Legolas and Galadriel.

From Redditoru/bowspyguy:

Legolas, Aragorn, and Gimli ran about 135 miles chasing the Orks who capturedMerry and Pippin.

From Redditoru/decker12:

Though the trilogy runs over nine hours, Legolas and Frodo appear in only half of Fellowship and the end of the story.Return of the King, so they get little screen time to exchange lines.

From Redditoru/PersonUsingAComputer:

The book shows only one conversation between them. It is a different, longer one that the movie omits after the Fellowship leaves Lorien.

From a formerRedditor:

Legolas was probably bilingual, speaking Sindarin and the Silvan dialect.

Lorien mostly spoke Sindarin with some dialectal words left. Mirkwood speakers used both languages. Legolas and his father's household spoke Sindarin mostly (according to Unfinished Tales), but he might have spoken Silvan to the Lorien guards. Some argue this is possible, though Frodo (the POV character) could not understand it (also in Unfinished Tales).Unfinished Tales.

From Redditoru/stevepremo:

Most Mirkwood elves were Silvan but ruled by Sindar. Legolas was a Sindarin elf, a Teleri who did not go to Valinor. He is still Eldar. I do not know if Sylvan elves feel the sea's pull like Legolas does.

From Redditoru/WildVariety:

Aragorn shares blood ties with all Three Houses of the Edain, the Ruling Houses of the Noldor, Vanyar, Teleri, and the Maiar. He is probably not related to Legolas.

From Redditoru/Satyrsol:

Galadriel warns him about the sea inReturn of the King, Legolas mentions the seagulls create longing in him.
