About this list

The MCU has become the gold standard of franchise filmmaking after 10 years of storytelling and world-building. Genius foreshadowing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe helped get to this point. When Iron Man hit theaters in 2008, Marvel Studios was still finding its footing, but they were already dropping hints about a bigger universe. Every subsequent MCU film pushed toward a boiling point, which finally arrived in Avengers: Infinity War. For over a decade, Marvel Studios hid Infinity War clues in plain sight. Obsessive fans caught most of them, but plenty of surprises remained. The Infinity Stones were teased, introduced, and explained across multiple films. Thanos made several cameos before taking center stage. Some foreshadowing was subtle, with innocuous lines of dialogue throughout the MCU hinting at the destiny that would eventually unfold.
