About this list
- 1The Perfect Baked PotatoFood Drink
From Redditor /u/ughnotanothername
I make the best baked potato! This is my method:
Cut a potato in half to get two "ovals".
Use a fork to poke holes in the fleshy parts.
Rinse the inside/yellow-or-white part to reduce starch.
Put rock salt in your palm and rub the potato skin on it; this makes it slightly crispy.
Place the two halves on a microwave-safe plate, skin sides down. Pour or use a paper towel to get some olive oil on the inside/yellow-or-white part.
Microwave the potato until done. My microwave takes about 5 minutes.

Steamed veggies are simple in the microwave. Add an inch or two of water and a lid that isn't sealed or is placed slightly off-center. Keep microwaving on full power until they reach your desired tenderness.
Most people miss this: you can bake any potato in the microwave with almost no effort. I pierce them with a fork, avoiding steam bursts. Wrap them in a damp paper towel. Cook for about 8 minutes until soft. Skip the special bag.
I hear you can cook rice in the microwave, but I lack the technique. Searching Google seems like a good next step.
6 - 3Micro-Tacos?Food Drink
From Redditor /u/erHoggenCatten
Mix a can of refried beans, some taco seasoning powder, and a can of tomatoes. Heat well, stopping to stir often. Once hot, top with shredded cheese and heat again until melted. Add salsa and sprinkle green onions on top; use scissors to cut them for best results. Serve over rice or with tortilla chips.
4 - 4Taco Tuesday Made EasyFood Drink
From Redditor /u/1wthnature
Make fish tacos! Cut fish, tomatoes, and onions. Put them in a large bowl with any seasonings you want. Cover with cling wrap. Microwave in three-minute steps, stirring gently in between. Put in tortillas with your toppings... enjoy!
This works well with any mild white fish, like cod or haddock. I also prepare it with bluefish when my husband fishes in the ocean during the summer. Enjoy!
2 - 5Mastering Poached EggsFood Drink
From Redditor /u/sweet_chick283
Poach eggs easily. Crack eggs into a mug, cover with water, and sprinkle salt. Microwave on medium for 2 minutes.
2 - 6Viva Le OmeletteFood Drink
From Redditor /u/matias1021
I make omelets in the microwave.
Use 2 eggs, frozen mushrooms, frozen onions, and frozen peppers.
Cook for 2 minutes. Remove it every 30 seconds.
Add shredded cheese at the end.
2 - 7Scrambled Eggs, The Easy WayFood Drink
From Redditor /u/Glatog
I prepare chicken breasts and eggs in the microwave.
I coat the chicken with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Paprika is important for color because the chicken does not brown. Use medium power and watch it so you do not overcook.
I make a scrambled egg bowl every morning. I start with pre-shredded hash-browns. Cook those on high for one minute and a half. Then, add my eggs and some cream. Cook at 70% power for about two and a half to three minutes. Stir them every sixty seconds. Stirring prevents them from getting rubbery. Cook until they are nearly done, leaving some moisture. The heat from my last stir finishes cooking. Add your favorite toppings afterward.
1 - 8Savory Oats?Food Drink
From Redditor /u/WhereRtheTacos
Savory oats, but you can make sweet too. I microwave some veggies for thirty seconds to a minute. Then, I put oats on top with seasoning and water. Microwave for two more minutes. Add cheese or an egg on top; you can microwave that too. Sometimes I add hot sauce. This tastes surprisingly good, and you can change what you want.
1 - 9Eight-Minute Rice BowlFood Drink
From Redditor /u/Chinlan
Microwave one cup of rice and one cup of water for six minutes. Add a one-and-a-half-ounce can of tuna and a handful of shredded cheese, like Colby Jack. Add any spice you like; my current choice is buffalo and some ranch. This makes a 700-900 calorie meal that tastes amazing. Total time to make is eight minutes.
1 - 10Chef’s KissFood Drink
From Redditor /u/Ingsstfs
Steam salmon with potatoes. Cut potatoes into small two-centimeter cubes and place them on greaseproof paper. Put a piece of raw salmon on top. Add a dollop of sour cream and chopped leeks. Season however you like; I use a lot of black pepper.
Fold the paper into a sealed package. Microwave on high for four to five minutes until the salmon and potatoes cook. This is one of my favorite quick meals for busy nights. It takes almost no time. You get nice steamed salmon with no weird texture from microwave fish cooking!
1 - 11Veggie DelightFood Drink
From Redditor /u/Nectoux
Asparagus! Put them in a Corning-ware glad dish. Drizzle with olive oil and salt and pepper. Microwave for two minutes. They come out delicious.
1 - 12Rice And ChickenFood Drink
From Redditor /u/kaptaain
I pour chicken broth over dried rice until it is about half an inch deep. Cook for twelve minutes; it works well for me. Time changes with microwave power, but rice is versatile. If it soaks up all the broth, add water to fluff it up. If the rice is still dry, microwave longer and add water as needed.
0 - 13Two-Minute BreakieFood Drink
From Redditor /u/Holzmaske
You can make porridge in the microwave. Use oatmeal plus milk, and add berries, fruit, or cinnamon, whatever you like.
Put it in for a few minutes. Open it every twenty or thirty seconds and stir it. This stops it from cooking and spilling over. Make sure your bowl is not too full initially to avoid spillage.
0 - 14Two FavoritesFood Drink
From Redditor /u/DeaconNuno
My microwave staples are:
Burritos of any kind, but pour salsa on them after microwaving.
Microwave the chicken patties. Place them on a bun. Put American cheese on top of the patty. Reassemble the bun. Microwave for an extra 20 seconds. Add one slice of thinly sliced white onion (use two slices if the onion does not cover the entire patty). Eat.
Making the onion slices too thick ruins it; they become too hard to eat. Use a different onion, or a cheese other than American. I don't know why those specific items make it good, but they do.

Posted by Redditor /u/Some guys call this Meshawna.
This is microwavable rice and a frozen stir-fry veggie mix. Use soy sauce, honey, rice wine vinegar, and Sriracha. Voilà!
