13 Dark Turns In 'Naruto'

The anime heavily censors the bloody moments compared to the manga.

In the Land of Waves arc, Inari watches his beloved stepfather get publicly executed by Gato's bodyguards after the man tried to stop Gato from taking over his nation. This makes Inari very upset.

Both versions show Kaiza hanging from a cross while Gato mocks him for wanting to 'protect his people with both arms.' The anime shows hammers beating his arms, but the manga shows they were cut off.The arms are cut off.

Kisame uses the Water Prison Technique to trap himself in water to stop Aoba from reading his mind and learning the Akatsuki's secrets. He summons three sharks before he drowns; those sharks eat him alive.Kisame is eaten alive by the sharks.

Kisame's death shows integrity. He followed his principles and sacrificed himself for his comrades. Watching the water prison fill with blood does not make it easier.

Gaara shows no mercy fighting Team Shigure, a group of Amegakure genin. He traps them with his Sand Binding Coffin and crushes them with Sand Waterfall Funeral. Blood rains down from all directions, showing Gaara's brutality.

Kakuzu gets power from other shinobi's hearts. When resurrected during the Fourth Shinobi War, he first finds someone to remove vital organs. He rips a man's heart out of his chest and stares at it beat. This scene shows Kakuzu's terror.

Sasuke's new curse mark activates during the Chuunin Exams, giving him power that makes him eager for hard damage. He stands on Zaku's back, grinning menacingly, and breaks his arm behind his back.

Later, Zaku fights Shino. His injury causes kikaichu bugs in the air pipes for his jutsu to explode, leaving his arm riddled with holes. The manga shows it worse—his arms are blown off.His arms are blown off.

Gaara is not the only Kazakage clan member who traps and crushes enemies. Kankuro does this with puppets instead of sand. He shows this during his fight with Sakon, a Sound Four member. Gaara encases Sakon in a giant puppet, letting the puppet's weapons do the damage. Blood seeping from the cracks shows Sakon's condition.

Danzo gets desperate after his fight with Sasuke. He takes Karin hostage as a human shield. Sasuke uses his Chidori Sharp Spear to stab Danzo in the heart. This is brutal, but it is not the final blow.

Danzo started the Reverse Four Symbols Sealing to take Sasuke and Obito down. They escaped before Danzo died in a gruesome explosion. Danzo destroyed Shisui's Mangekyo Sharingan, stopping others from using its power.
