There Are Constant References to the Final Battle in The Avengers

Almost all characters reference "The Incident," the massive fight at the end of The Avengers. The Avengers., which caused Hell's Kitchen to collapse, sparking huge crime.

The appearance of new heroes stealing attention from lower crime made Kingpin’s rise possible. This shows the first big sign of a shared MCU, heading clearly toward Civil War.

A Nod to Frank Miller's "The Man Without Fear"

The black suit Daredevil wears for twelve of thirteen episodes shows influence from "The Man Without Fear." The flashback to Daredevil's first outing shows another suit interpretation. Not wearing the iconic red until the final episode references Frank Miller's arc, as he wears that costume only in the last issue.

    Iron Fist and Madame Gao

It seems the dangers from Madame Gao and her operation will affect 2016's Iron Fist show more directly.Iron FistGao's heroin packets display the Steel Serpent insignia, a master martial artist exiled from the mystic city of K'un-Lun.

Marvel cannot create an Iron Fist show without using K'un-Lun and its mix of mysticism and martial arts.Iron FistMadame Gao discusses returning to a homeland "considerably farther" than China. An extra-dimensional alien city reached by a pilgrimage to Tibet fits the bill, whether it is K'un-Lun or one of the other "Cities of Heaven" in Iron Fist lore.Iron FistSteel Serpent is the perfect dark mirror villain for Iron Fist; they dress alike, and Madame Gao is probably Steel Serpent's partner-in-crime, the Crane Mother. That hit she landed on ol' hornhead was not a lucky strike.

    Gladiator and Stilt Man!

Gladiator, as Melvin Potter, appeared on the show. In comics, Potter designs costumes and builds his own armor for costumed heroes. Potter also fights with heroes because he loves social worker Betsy Beatty.

Potter designed Wilson Fisk's armor and Daredevil's red suit on the show. Potter plays both sides, and Betsy remains the key to his redemption.

The Gladiator suit in comics has buzzsaws on the gauntlets. Potter's workshop features these buzzsaws. They appear in Potter's fight with Daredevil and on a blueprint seen near Potter's bench.

The insignia on Gladiator's costume shows up on a workshop board. Gladiator does not appear in Daredevil, but work prepares him for the future. A "Rise of the Gladiators" poster is in Potter's workshop.

Vanessa (Fisk) Shaped the Wardrobe of the Future Kingpin

Vanessa tells Wilson about being seduced by a man in a white suit and ascot. This clearly mocks how Kingpin has always looked in comics.

Fans see Wilson in a famous white suit. However, the prison garb he wears at the end of the final episode likely differs from fan expectations.

The Owl May Still Be a Major Player

The Owl is an ex-Wall Street investor who became a crime boss. In comics, he has a green cloak that lets him glide, big-tipped Wolverine hair, and strap-on Wolverine claws.

On the show, he lacks these traits. Melvin Potter gets him close to a green suit, but he never calls him "The Owl." The first season ends with his death.

Perhaps The Owl has another shot. Leland mentions his son repeatedly on the show. His son's name is Lee.

Lee (Leland) Oswald, Jr.! He seeks revenge for his father's death, has a score with both Kingpin and Daredevil, and has money hidden away. All he needs is the green suit Melvin Potter builds. Maybe some claws too.
