The movie Alpha Dog reveals more about the August 2000 murder of Nicholas Markowitz than you might think. Although the film takes creative liberties, the core of the story is true. Nicholas Markowitz was 15 when Jesse James Hollywood and his crew, a group of illicit-substance dealers, abducted him in retaliation for his half-brother's debts. What makes this case stand out is that Nick spent three days as a 'prisoner' of Hollywood's crew, during which he partied, played video games with his captors, and was even driven around by unsuspecting parents. After Nick's body was found, police pieced together the events and launched a manhunt for Jesse James Hollywood, which lasted nearly five years.
