The Star Wars prequels have faced heavy criticism, but fans on Reddit opted to think creatively. They shared various ways to improve the prequels, as shown below.

Anakin hasturn to the Dark Sideat the end ofEpisode 2. ThenEpisode 3Episode 3 can cover the Jedi's end, the Empire's rise, and Anakin (or Darth Vader) seeking Obi-Wan and Padme.

One simple change fixes the movie: Make Anakin and Padme's relationship believable.Anakin and Padmemake their relationship more believable.
Have them be the exact same age. Their romance should build slowly, not feature that bad fireplace scene and sand... no sand. I hate sand; it is coarse and spreads everywhere.
If they were written as a couple more, the "you're breaking my heart" moment inRevenge of the Sithcould have been more impactful.

I always thought (based on the scene between Ben and Luke inStar Wars) the Empire was older than shown in the prequels. He said, "Vader helped the Emperor hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights."
Instead of one huge betrayal ("Order 66"), show a longer time where the Old Republic was mostly gone, but the Jedi still existed somewhat. Luke's father and Kenobi were not Jedi Masters at the Republic's center; they were fugitives fighting with the last of what remained.
The Emperor did not trick an impressionable kid into betraying everything for a girl. Instead, he took advantage of a desperate, middle-aged Anakin who grew jaded and cynical after years fighting a losing battle.
Luke and Leia's mother was not a noble figure who died giving birth to the twins she conceived with the man she loved. She escaped a man who fell to evil and hid her son before going into hiding.

If they remake the films (who am I kidding, when they do), I think they should make big changes. The timeline needs to stretch, in my opinion. I thinkthe Clone Warsshould last longer than it did. This fits character ages better and shows the characters' desperation to end it so it finishes inEpisode III.

Redditoru/KosstAmojan:
The prequels focus on Darth Vader. Many ways, the main trilogy focuses on Vader and Luke's relationship. I want to explore why Vader stays Palpatine's lackey and why he asks Luke to join him and rule the galaxy. This question lacks a good answer: why does Darth Vader want to rule the galaxy?
The seeds for this exist in the prequels, but they must be shown. We see Anakin and his mother barely survive slavery. Combine this with the subplot of the military-industrial complex seen inTLJandSoloAnakin starts by leaving to join the Jedi to escape his life. Then, he grows disillusioned. He sees the Jedi help maintain a rotten system. Anakin is a good man who wants to help the galaxy's poor. Palpatine takes this and slowly corrupts Anakin.
These prequels resemble the originals. They clarify Anakin's turn to the dark side. A good man becomes the tyrant he hated.

The prequels should show Obi-Wan and Anakin flying the galaxy, having tough Jedi adventures like a sci-fi buddy cop story.

I like the original plot: 'go ahead kill me.' But I would execute it much better.
Redditor.u/codeswinwars:
I like the elements. The storyline is fine; the execution needs work. Editing and re-casting would have made the films great.

I'd put Count Dooku inEpisode I.
That's it. After this, I'd copy the rest of the scripts.

Anakin discovers Obi-Wan and Padme were having an affair. This fuels his distrust of the Jedi and his slide to the dark side. This plot point seems small, but it makes me ask, 'What other story options exist?'
